Set It Off Shows Austin What Their New Era has to Bring on Their ‘Deathless’ Tour

Set It Off performs at Emo’s in Austin on April 26th, 2024 to a packed crowd for their Deathless tour with openers DeathbyRomy and Crown The Empire at Emo’s Austin.

The crowd went crazy when opener DeathbyRomy and her band took the stage with amazing outfits and ways to get the crowd moving. Interacting and dancing with her guitarists and even getting the crowd to open up some mosh pits for her songs. All members of the band had amazing energy for their whole set. This was also DeathbyRomy’s first full-flight tour around the US and they put on a show to remember.

Following up was Crown The Empire – formed in Dallas, the metal band was not far from home. The lead singer, Andy Leo, had the crowd jumping and screaming the second he took the stage. The band opened with “DOGMA” and “Black Sheep,” both new songs from their most recent album. Andy even had some fun and laughed with the crowd, cracking a few jokes about the venue’s unique ceiling decor and asking a fan in the crowd to throw them a can they were drinking out of. All band members were giving it their all with energy and outstanding vocals. Even leaving the crowd chanting “one more song!” once their set had reached its end.

Next up were headliners, Set It Off. The stage had some props and set-ups like gargoyle statues, fire, and even a large devil cut-out directly behind the drum set. Their set started with their newest single release “Parasite” to get the crowd started, and straight off the bat, the band didn’t disappoint, giving it their all in their performances. Their second song was ‘Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing’, one of the band’s most iconic songs from their 2014 album Duality. Their fifth song, being “Partners in Crime,” another iconic and well-known hit sung originally by lead singer Cody Carson and Ash Costello from New Year’s Day, but Costello’s part was sung by DeathbyRomy. The singer had come back out to help the band perform the song, and the crowd loved every bit of their performance together. They had an 18-song set that paid homage to their past eras, including a 10-song melody with some of the songs dating back to their 2011 EP Horrible Kids.

Always interacting with the audience and keeping them on their toes with surprises, lead singer Cody Carson had the crowd open a few mosh pits, had them sing his parts for some songs, and even brought out an air mattress to fling out into the crowd and crowd-surf on while performing the bridge to ‘Ancient History.” Drummer, Maxx Danziger, had even switched spots for a song with Cody, who was now playing the drums. Maxx even put on a fan’s cowboy hat and gave a “yeehaw!” in the middle of the song.

As the show started coming to an end, the band explained the point of the “Deathless Tour”. Explaining that they wanted to stage to look like Hell because they had been put through Hell. Cody Carson went on to explain that one day a few years ago, he had received a call saying that he and his band were being dropped by their label and management, and that had left him scared and scrambling for what was to come next for the band. This situation had left him and his band in a tight spot, but they expressed that no matter what, they couldn’t be killed and came back stronger than ever. Set It Off is now an independent band, and this tour is to represent the start of a new era for Set It Off. The band announced “Why Worry” as their final song to close the show and came back out with an encore of another new hit, “Punching Bag.”

Set It Off has said and shown in their concerts how dedicated they are to what they do and how much they love it. The band shows no signs of quitting anytime soon, and we can’t wait for what else this new ‘Deathless’ era has to bring.
