We are a month away from the beloved Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL). Anticipation is even more intense than it was last year. Everyone is eager to see Charli XCX, Geese, and Twenty One Pilots. However, we at Off Record are most excited about the festival’s Texas natives. The lineup features plenty of homegrown talent to look forward to. This includes Austin-born songwriter Bo Staloch and Houston’s folk/alternative artist Emma Ogier. Additionally, alternative-rock band The 4411 brings even more local Austin flavor to the stage.
Bo Staloch
Fresh off a single release this week, Bo Staloch is set to play the Tito’s Handmade Vodka stage at 3:15 both Fridays of the festival. Austin-born-and-raised and Nashville-based, his dynamic approach to songwriting makes him a must-see this year. His artistic style braids together sounds from all kinds of genres, including folk, Americana, country, and pop. Last summer, he joined indie-pop singer Ashe on her North American tour. Be sure to catch Bo on October 2nd and 9th at the Tito’s stage, and check out his most recent single, “I Won’t Be There Waiting.”
The 4411
Opening up the same stage, Austin-native alt-rock band The 4411 will be an undercard highlight this year. They are exclusive to Weekend One, and will kick off the entire ACL festival at 12:45. Made up of recent Texas State University graduates, the band is known for their dynamic on-stage energy and performances. They kicked off their North American tour in Houston late last month, and their final stop will be at Zilker Park on October 2nd. They will also be at Emo’s on the 1st and Scoot Inn on the 5th joining Palace and Saint Motel for their shows for ACL Fest Nights. Be sure to check out their recent EP, “Haven’t Seen You In So Long”, and catch one of their performances next month.
Emma Ogier
Houston-native Emma Ogier is another Week One exclusive who is a must on your ACL agenda. She will take the BMI stage on Saturday at 1:45. Ogier’s sound is perfect for an ACL stage, combining that folk energy with a side of twang. She is set to join Whitney on their tour a little over a week from now, and then will join us at ACL, before heading back out on tour with Hovvdy in November. She recently received a co-sign from both Texas-native Kevin Abstract and Dominic Fike. Emma Ogier will be one of the festival highlights, no doubt. Check out her single “Baby Don’t Hurt Me” and be sure to catch her set, because if you don’t, you’ll regret it.
As usual, the ACL lineup is one of the best in the game. We all know the headliners are always exciting, but the undercard is exhilarating, especially when it features Texas natives. Don’t miss these artists!
