Indie Band Hippo Campus Brought the Heat to the South Side Ballroom in Dallas

Headliner Hippo Campus and Opener Gus Dapperton rocked out during their sold out show at the South Side Ballroom in Dallas.

For their “Wasteland” tour, Hippo Campus kicked off a set of Texas shows at the South Side Ballroom in Dallas. At this date, the band was accompanied by Gus Dapperton, an indie singer-songwriter. Gus Dapperton was joined by his four-piece band, and he performed a mixture of fan favorite tracks such as “Prune, You Talk Funny” and “Post Humorous.” Gus Dapperton and his band were energetic for the entirety of their set, and played their instruments while simultaneously singing and dancing along. During the show intermission, country music played over the venue speakers to get the audience hyped for the headliner. Next up, Hippo Campus hit the stage and lead singer Jake Luppen donned a Dallas Cowboys jersey which he consistently wears at their Dallas shows. The band kicked off their set with their dreamy track “South”, which was followed by their new upbeat single “Yippie Ki Yay.” The rest of their set incorporated songs from their three previous hit albums Landmark, Bambi, and LP3, as well as their latest EPs. Hippo Campus’ visuals, lighting, and performances captivated the audience, which made for a truly unforgettable show.
