The Hails helped Houston kick-off February the right way when they stopped by White Oak Music Hall on February 1st, 2024. The show was the band’s first headlining show of their What’s Your Motive tour, which was accompanied by Bipolar Joyride and Foxtide.
Starting off the night was Bipolar Joyride, a Houston-based band who knew just how to capture the audience’s full attention as soon as they walked out. They played songs from their single, Hop On, as well as a few unreleased ones. Their great personalities and energizing music had the crowd dancing and cheering for them non-stop.
Next up was indie band, Foxtide. This show was particularly special for them because it was their first time doing a show outside their home state of California. As they performed, many gathered to the front to sing their hearts out to their songs, especially when they played the hit, “She’s Not Yours.” Foxtide’s set was incredibly lively and brought the crowd much joy.
Only a few minutes after Foxtide exited, The Hails promptly took the stage to conclude the night. As they began with songs such as, “Sugar,” “Sippin’ on the Daylight,” and “Situations,” the audience yelled every word to each one as their love and excitement for the band was felt around the room.
What was cool about The Hails’ performance was the distinctiveness of each member along with the collective sound overall. From incredible drumming from Zach Levy, smooth bass lines from Andre Escobar, edgy guitar riffs from Dylan McCue, insane vocals from lead singer Robbie Kingsley and vocals, guitar, or keys played by Franco Solari, everyone shined individually but came together beautifully. It was evident that this band was meant to play together.
As the show continued, the band played songs from their newest album, What’s Your Motive?, including “Fiona,” “Heaven” and a personal favorite, “Breathless.” Towards the end, they played fan favorites like “Younger” and “Stay.”
Overall, the show was an incredible night to remember. The stage presence of each and every band was amazing and you could tell that the crowd didn’t want any of them to leave. If you have the opportunity, The Hails’ What’s Your Motive tour is one to check out.

I am from Houston, Texas and currently attending the University of Houston as a marketing major! From attending concerts, playing guitar, and collecting vinyl, I love anything that has to do with music. Some of my favorite artists include The Strokes, Omar Apollo, and boygenius. Besides that, I really like shopping, watching Pitch Perfect, and discovering new places in Houston!
