The ¿Quién trae las cornetas? tour stopped in Dallas, Texas on November 16th for a sold-out show at The Studio at the Factory bringing along Sabino as the opening artist.
Emerging from Caracas Venezuela, RAWAYANA has positioned themselves as one of Latin America’s most captivating acts. They’ve gained international popularity for their fusion of reggae, funk, salsa, and trippy pop sound. The charismatic group consists of vocalist and guitarist Alberto “Beto” Montenegro, Antonio “Tony” Casas on bass, Andrés Story on drums, and Alejandro Abeijón on lead guitar.
Following the release of their third studio album, Trippy Caribbean, RAWAYANA earned a nomination for Best New Artist at the 18th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards. Adding to their impressive list of accomplishments RAWAYANA recently made their NPR Tiny Desk debut for Latinx Heritage Month on the El Tiny series alongside a stellar line-up including Becky G, DannyLux, Alex Cuba, and J Noa.
To start off the night RAWAYANA played their opening track “Nada Malo” from their new Album ¿Quién trae las cornetas? then jumped back to their 2016 roots with a few songs from Trippy Caribbean, which features the notorious Caribbean charm that could soundtrack a relaxing day by the beach.
The audience witnessed a lovely surprise halfway through the set, when a band member announced that a fan in the crowd had prepared a marriage proposal. Despite the packed- and sold-out crowd, the soon to be married couple happened to be standing right next to us. After She gave an enthusiastic yes, the room erupted in joyful cheers while Beto invited the couple to make their way to the stage to dance and celebrate. The rest of the night was buzzing with great energy as they ended with a crowd favorite “Dame Un Break.”
