Austin City Limits Festival 2024: Artists You Need to See at This Year

Festival season is in full-swing, with Austin City Limits right around the corner. No worries, we’re here to help you make your picks when it comes to who to see at the fest this year.

Austin City Limits is everyone’s favorite time of year in Texas, and this years lineup includes a great selection of acts – from indie and pop to country and locals. Here are our top picks of who you need to check out at the Austin City Limits Festival 2024.

Hermanos Gutiérrez (Weekend One + Weekend Two)

This Ecuadorian-Swiss duo are the definition of Dynamic. Currently consisting of brothers Estevan and Alejandro Gutiérrez, Hermanos Gutiérrez have been self-releasing music since 2019 and signed to Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound in 2022, the same year they released their first non-indie project titled El Bueno y el Malo. The duo released their sixth album in 2024 and have made multiple festival appearances, including a performance at SXSW’s Easy Eye Sound Showcase. They will be bringing their Sonido Cósmico to Zilker park on both weekends for a mesmerizing time and performance.

Catfish and the Bottlemen (Weekend One + Weekend Two)

Catfish and the Bottlemen infamously broke up in 2021 and reunited in 2023 after announcing a set at Redding and Leeds. The Welsh band formed in 2007 and, after multiple lineup changes, currently consists of members Van McCann and Benji Blakeway. Their single “Showtime” was released this past summer, in anticipation of their forthcoming album that has yet to be announced. While no tours or shows in the US have been announced, it was exciting to see that they would be making their way back to Austin this year. It’s hard to tell what the band is up to, but all we know is that we are in for a surprise when they take on the stage at Zilker Park.

Orville Peck (Weekend One + Weekend Two)

Country is making its entrance at ACL this year, and while we’re excited for Chris Stapleton and Sturgill Simpson, Orville Peck is the true star of the show. The masked singer, who is Daniel Pitout from South Africa, will be bringing the star-studded rodeo to the stage this Fall in promotion of his third album Stampede. His debut album Pony and sophomore album Bronco were both sought to critical acclaim, which has led him to work with artists like Paul Cauthen and Kylie Minogue. On top of his immense aesthetic, Peck’s performance works to close the gap between the LGBTQ community and country music – making him a perfect addition to this year’s eclectic lineup.

Chappell Roan (Weekend One + Weekend Two)

‘Your Favorite Artist’s Favorite Artist’ – as the saying goes. Chappell Roan is on a rapid rise since the beginning of 2024, after performing as an opener for Olivia Rodrigo. With a 10 out of 10 performance at both weekends of Coachella, fans and newcomers immediately knew Roan would become a household name. The singer is an LGBTQ+ ally, and in addition to positively defying music standards, Chappell Roan is also paving the road for musicians like her to take the lead. From growing up in a small midwest town to drawing in a humungous crowd, Chappell Roan is currently a musical force to be reckoned with. As the singer has performed multiple festivals this year, including Governor’s Ball, Lollapalooza and Osheaga, it was no shock to see she would return to Austin this fall. The only question now is, what is she gonna wear on both weekends?

West 22nd (Weekend One)

West 22nd is a local band that’s currently making it big in the Texas scene. The band released their debut EP in 2023 and have performed all over Texas through headline shows and even at South by Southwest. Their sound hits the energetic indie sound that resembles artists such as the Backseat Lovers and the Rare Occasions, making West 22nd a worthy local addition. From promoting their band all over west campus to opening for acts like Remi Wolf, this local favorite will absolutely kill it at the Tito’s stage.

Telescreens (Weekend One)

Formed in 2016, Telescreens are one of NYC’s best up-and-coming bands. Having made their Governor’s Ball debut earlier this year, this alternative band is making their way to the south to perform. With tracks like “Phone Booth,” “Lost” and “Games,” Telescreens are a great example of a new take on the modern indie sound, all while working in folk elements. They’ve performed a multitude of sold-out shows down in Austin, which means their set at the BMI stage will be a killer.

The Tiarras (Weekend Two)

While this year’s lineup once again lacks latin artists, a few latin artists such as Carin Leon and BALTHVS are sure acts to get riled up for. The Tiarras also fall under that category, as the Mexican-American all-girl trio take pride in their roots through vibrant compositions and catchy rhythms. The trio, who host members Tori, Sophia, and Tiffany Baltierra, embody the definition of latinx culture and empowerment through their songs. Their stage presence also reflects their latin music landscape, making them a refreshing act to catch at this year’s fest.

Santigold (Weekend Two)

While this year’s lineup includes a hefty amount of throwback indie artists like Foster the People and Misterwives, singer Santigold was a pleasant surprise. Known for the success of her debut album Santogold, Santigold is making her momentous return by playing a small amount of dates all over the US, including a stop during Weekend Two. The singer released her fourth album in 2022 titled Spirituals, which features songs like “My Horror” and “High Priestess.” Her ethereal vocals and extensive artistry is something that can’t be beaten, making her an artist that you need to see live. Anyway… who doesn’t want to hear “Disparate Youth” live?
