As the first weekend of ACL was coming to a close, the ACL post events had just begun. One such event was a special performance from UK singer Jess Glynne at an intimate hotel balcony, just moments after her performance at the festival, and ORB was there to cover it all.
ACL is a magnificent time to be in the city of Austin for music fans from around the world. Not only is Zilker Park packed to the brim with crowds eager to see their favorite artists, but also live music events continue to take place around the city from local artists performing at some of Austin’s most beloved venues, to some bigger name acts putting on shows of their own outside of the festival. One such special event that took place on the last Sunday of the first weekend of ACL was a secluded vocal performance from grammy nominated singer Jess Glynne in a small balcony room in the Austin Proper Hotel.
The invitation-only event was available to a select handful of guests that were allowed into the area as they were served high end cocktails and small plates of exquisite dishes. Guests were able to sit back and chat amongst themselves as they were served the incredible dishes and premiere cocktails before the show began as they basqued in the ambiance of the hotel stage setting. Not only was this an exclusive show, it was a full evening cocktail party experience.
After everyone was settled and drinks and dinner were served, the woman of the evening arrived through the hotel hallway in a beautifully decorated black dress. Just a few hours before Jess was performing a packed set at the Miller Lite stage at ACL, she was now performing to a much smaller crowd to add to their incredible evening experience in a much more intimate setting, making a remarkable transition in the process to formal attire matching the tone of the setting.
The room settled as Glynne began to perform accompanied by two amazing backing vocalists and a piano player as she sang gorgeous harmonies. The crowd was in awe, forks stop and chatter came to a halt as they watched the Grammy winner sing beautiful melodies just feet away from where they were sitting. The smooth voice and calming tunes Glynne performed matched the ambiance perfectly of the evening and setting, bringing everything together under her unifying melodies.
Jess Glynne performed a short set, playing only about 5 songs after which guests were able to return to their evening and discuss the incredible performance they had just had the pleasure of witnessing.
