Venues across the country are quickly selling out tickets to The Fray is Back Tour; for a good reason too.
The distinct long line forming outside the Echo Lounge and Music Hall in Dallas, Texas could easily be seen all the way across the almost full venue parking lot. As the sign above the box office read “SOLD OUT” in a big bold font, it wasn’t a surprise that this show was anticipated by many people. When the doors finally opened to let the crowd inside the Echo Lounge, the long line looked almost never-ending as the masses of people fled into the building. When inside, fans of all ages gathered together waiting anxiously for the show to begin.
Before The Fray made it on stage, West Virginian singer-songwriter, Rett Madison, kicked off the evening with a bang. Performing her inspirational, emotional, and sentimental tracks, Madison broke down the meaning behind each track before stunning the crowd with her lyrical and musical talent. With plenty of engagement with the crowd, Madison proved to be a brilliant performer, leaving the perfect time period between each song for the audience to truly soak up the stories being told through her tracks. Although there was a wave of longing for more from Rett that moved through the crowd after she packed up her set, this feeling also clashed with the excitement for the long awaited headliner to make their appearance.
Before the crowd knew it, it was already time for the signaling lights to dim, as the instrumentals began to play and a wave of excitement filled the air of the venue. After their brief hiatus, the legendary early 2000s rock band, The Fray, was back, and after experiencing this show, better than ever. Originating from Denver, Colorado in 2002, The Fray quickly made a name for themselves after their first hit debut studio album, How to Save a Life, released in 2005. With well known songs that are frequently played to this day such as “Over My Head (Cable Car)”, “You Found Me”, and “Look After You”, it wasn’t hard for The Fray to become a hit band.
Although their most prominent years as a band were during the early 2000s, it was a popular opinion for fans to beg for the band to make a comeback after their hiatus. The sold out show in Dallas, proved that their comeback was an amazing idea. With a screaming crowd, amazing engagement and performance from the band, as well as (obviously) incredibly talented musicians playing lyrically progressive and genius tracks, the show was unforgettable.
Regardless of whether you are a die-hard fan of The Fray, know a few songs, or are completely new to the group, I highly recommend taking a night to go see this highly acclaimed band live and experience a night of musical masterpieces.
