BMI Sonidos Showcase at Parish
The wind picked up an excuse to attend a night of Spanish soul and pop with acts Caravanchela, Neysa Blay, Jona Camacho, Estereomance, along with DJ El Dusty playing intermittently between sets. A warmth of Spanish wave at Parish began with Caravanchela, self described as a caravan of ‘chelas’ (beer) consisting of a brother/sister duo and their close friend on the drums. They danced onstage and invited the crowd to sing along to tunes like “Como Tú (Te Fuiste)” and “Hey!” Neysa Blay, a Puerto Rican singer songwriter offered a homey performance making the crowd feel they were a lover she was singing to. The music continued with Jona Camacho who delivered songs with a sweetness that magnetized the audience to be closer to the stage. Esteromance closed off the showcase, captivating with synchronized dance and acapella harmonies after each of their songs. – Emily Martinez
