Dive into the creative minds of hit alt rock band, Twenty One Pilots, as we break down their discography and what’s to expect for their upcoming album.

Over the past couple of months, Twenty One Pilots has been releasing an extensive amount of information pertaining to their upcoming album. With a new song released and a story being uncovered, we will look into what we can expect in the near future for Twenty One Pilots and even take a look back at their achievements as a band and how they got to where they are now.

In 2007 in Columbus, Ohio, Tyler Joseph, lead singer and songwriter for the band, started making music with a piano he found in his house one day. He started learning how to play it and even wrote songs for an EP titled No Phun Intended. After attempting to form Twenty One Pilots and write music with a couple of his friends at the time, Chris Salih and Nick Thomas, they released the self-titled album in 2009. After that, both Chris and Nick decided to leave the band and Tyler was introduced to Josh Dun through a friend of his. Josh Dun became the band’s drummer very quickly and together they released an album in 2011 titled Regional At Best‘, featuring songs like “Kitchen Sink,” “Trees,” and “Ruby.” With this album they also did their first headlining tour shortly after the album was released.

In 2013, the band put out their first studio album and third album overall, Vessel, which received an overwhelmingly positive response by fans and decided to take the album on the road as an opener for the “Save Rock And Roll tour for Fall Out Boy alongside Panic! at the Disco in 2013, where the band gained a lot of traction and grew a fan base. After this tour had finished, they decided to do their own headlining tour celebrating Vessel with the “Quiet Is Violent Tour” in 2014. The band started to gain even more traction and an even bigger fan base in 2015 when they released their hit single “Stressed Out” for their upcoming album at the time Blurryface. With this being a very popular album they decided to take it on tour as well with “The Emotional Roadshow” Tour. The band also released their album Trench in 2018, and “Scaled and Icy” in 2021.

With their new album “Clancy“ being announced just a few weeks ago, Twenty One Pilots has started to let their fans know what the story is that has been in the making for almost 9 years and connects their last three albums all together. Twenty One Pilots released a video on their social media platforms explaining the story of the city of DEMA and the lands that lie outside of it called Trench. When the main protagonist of this story ,Clancy, is able to escape into Trench and is able to find others that live in Trench and those that are trying to get them back into the walls of DEMA. Prior to this video being released, the band decided to see if their fans would catch on to the storyline and see that a new era of Twenty One Pilots was upon them. By doing so, fans have noticed Josh’s hair color being changed to red, which he has done for previous albums with their respective colors.

A few lucky fans also got sent physical letters in the mail explaining what DEMA is and also giving them something to decode within the letter itself. To which a hidden message revealed the words “still alive”. This got Twenty One Pilots fans very excited about the new era that was to come, not only because they could expect new music very soon but also because the band was including them in it. With everything out now, the band revealed on the same day as their release of the first song of the new album “Overcompensate”, that their album, “Clancy”, would release on May 17th. The band announced the Clancy World Tour on March 27th, along with the latest single “Next Semester.”
