Foxtide Returned to Dallas for Their First Headline Tour

SoCal-based band Foxtide spent their fourth night on tour in Dallas, Texas after just releasing their second album Chaos.

The first artist to take the stage was local DFW based band Roach Noises. This band’s genre mainly centers around rock, and they gave a performance to remember. With roach themed costumes they sang and danced along the stage making jokes and small talk with the crowd in between songs.

Foxtide, fronted by Elijah Gibbins-Croft and members Oey James, Dom Friedly, and Ian Robles is a band from Southern California. This indie-rock band incorporates jazzy and surf-rock influences, a vibe similar to another well-known California based band Sunroom. They debuted with an EP in 2019 and have since released several singles and two albums. Their latest album, Chaos, was recently released early this December.

With an intimate venue, they played a fun and relaxed set which included a mix of tracks from their newest album, older songs, and covers. The members came onto the stage one by one, each adding an instrument to the song “I Didn’t Mean it,” simultaneously being met with loud cheers from the crowd. “We are happy to be in Dallas, Texas,” lead singer Elijah Gibbins-Croft told the audience. With it being their first show in Texas on the tour he admitted how “it was a long drive,” but assured fans that they “do love Texas.”

The band continued to play songs off their newest album such as “Pilot Wings,” and “Am I in Love With You,” but before beginning “My Favorite Girl Loves Reading,” Gibbins-Croft had a story to tell the audience. He explained how his girlfriend sent him her Christmas list which included a long list of books, inspiring him to write this song about her. This song was released as a single and is currently the most streamed song on the album.

They transitioned to a calmer and acoustic vibe with “Pretty Pictures” and “Hold On,” but quickly picked it back up as they neared the end of the set. With just three songs remaining, they told the audience that anyone who grew up in the 2000s with a radio nearby would recognize the next cover. Putting their own twist on “Since You’ve Been Gone” with a rockier vibe, they had the crowd loving every moment. As the night came to an end “She’s Not Yours” was their ending song in which fans took away the lyrics. They ended their fourth night of tour hanging around the venue with fans, taking pictures and signing merch. The rest of their tour will continue into 2025, as they will be joining The Backfires; a lineup that should not be missed.

I am a Dallas-based photographer who has an appreciation for both the arts and music! Besides photographing concerts, I also enjoy doing creative portraits and working in Photoshop. I spend my free time either playing the cello, guitar, or piano or collecting CDs and vinyls. I would say my top three favorite artists are Peter McPoland, The Beatles, and Harry Styles! I’m currently a senior in high school, but I plan to major in graphic design and one day turn concert photography into a career.
