World renowned DJ and music curator Joe Kay has embarked on his 11 city US tour promoting his debut EP If Not Now, Then When?, which featured Austin as one of the few select cities.
Austin’s Concourse Project is the premiere destination for all EDM and electronic party events for the capital city featuring some of the best DJs in the world and curating some of the most celebrated electronic events in the city such as the Seismic Dance event and leading the charge on after hours for Illfest and Freaky Deaky.
It was only fitting that Joe Kay chose this spot as his destination for the EP rollout. The Concourse known mostly for throwing rave events featuring house, dubstep, and DnB switched the vibes up when Kay rolled through town bringing more of a club type feel to the venue reminiscent of late 90s and early 00s dance parties.
The vibes started off on a smooth note when the opening DJ Wyldflower began her set. Bringing together a blend of groovy house with R&B and soul classics from artists such as Sade and Frank Ocean. It was a great selection to ease into the night as the crowd sipped their drinks and swayed to the groovy rhythms.

Anticipation built and the venue quickly started to fill as the headliner for the evening Joe Kay had gotten closer and closer. Kay has been building his following through his perfectly curated set lists for over the past 14 years through his signature Soulection Radio. The hopes from the crowd were high, and Kay delivered.
As the big screen in the back read “Trust Me With The Music” and trust the audience did as Kay spun an excellent blend of hip hop, soul, and R&B playing classics from artists such as Smino, SiR, Bryson Tiller just to name a few over heavy dance friendly house beats. Kay knows how to throw a party and control the crowd’s energy through his music curation. If Kay is rolling through your city make sure you take the opportunity to go because this is a party you don’t want to miss.

I’m a photographer currently based in Austin after recently relocating from Denver, CO. I graduated from the University of Colorado, Denver in 2019 with a degree in Business Management. I love music of all genres and have been going to live shows since I was 5 years old. Some of my favorite artist currently include Freddie Gibbs, Lola Young, Ivy Lab and Knocked Loose, but that is always subject to change.
