The Bronze Peacock at House of Blues Houston was graced with an amazing performance by Kid Bloom when he stopped in the city for the Inner Light tour. On February 29, 2024, the Houston show was accompanied by RMR and The Plum Boys.
Starting off the night was local Fort Worth band, The Plum Boys. The retro pop band gave the crowd all the good vibes as soon as they stepped out. From the vocals to the instrumentals, they gave an incredibly strong set. During the performance, the band expressed their love and gratitude for Kid Bloom. They explained that they have covered his songs for so long and after messaging the artist, they were invited to come out and play a show. It was a truly inspiring story that spread warmth along the room as the band connected with the crowd. The set was only thirty minutes long, but it was more than enough time for Houston to realize that the Plum Boys are definitely up-and-coming and ones to watch out for.
Next up was rapper and singer, RMR. His performance was not only powerful and smooth, but also comedic and engaging. He began his set in a full ski mask, yelled at the crowd (with love) and even brought two divorced women up to the stage to help sing his song about “sweet divorce.” On stage, the singer was accompanied by a guitarist that provided nothing more than electrifying solos. It was a great set that kept the audience entertained and on their toes before the main act came to conclude the night.
Last up was alternative/ indie singer, Kid Bloom. Right from the bat, the audience was fully present in the moment as the singer and his band gave an incredible energy that no one could resist. As the set kicked off, the singer began with “Cowboy” and “Have U Seen Her.”
After the first couple of songs, the artist revealed that he has been losing his voice, but was still gonna put on the best show… and that is just what he did. His slight rasp only added to his vocal tone, giving the audience a pleasant alternative to his usual sound.
The set continued with newer songs off of the singer’s newest project, Inner Light (Phase 1), and the unreleased Inner Light (Phase 2). The audience was more than delighted to get an exclusive preview and showed their support for the upcoming releases by cheering after each song.
The show closed out with “I Kissed a Girl, and She Kissed Me,” “Different State of Mind” and “More Life.” Overall, it was an amazing night that left fans in awe of all three artists that performed. If you get a chance, you should definitely catch Kid Bloom while on his Inner Light tour until the end of March!
I am from Houston, Texas and currently attending the University of Houston as a marketing major! From attending concerts, playing guitar, and collecting vinyl, I love anything that has to do with music. Some of my favorite artists include The Strokes, Omar Apollo, and boygenius. Besides that, I really like shopping, watching Pitch Perfect, and discovering new places in Houston!
