In mid-March, Sarah and the Sundays took off on the Like a Damn Tour, a twenty-four-date run of shows all over the United States. Recently, the indie band stopped in Houston for their second to last show of the tour, which was accompanied by Breakup Shoes.
Texas is home to a lot of notable indie bands and artists. There’s Dayglow, Cigarettes After Sex, and now, there’s the up-and-coming Sarah and the Sundays. After a month of touring all over the U.S., the band came home to the lone star state to finish off their tour strong in Dallas, Houston and their home city, Austin. On April 19, 2024, the ears of Warehouse Live Midtown in Houston, Texas, were blessed by the band as they played fan-favorites, covers and many new songs.
Kicking off the night at 7:30pm was Breakup Shoes, an alternative band from Phoenix, Arizona. The group set a perfectly chill and enjoyable vibe, as their dreamy sound filled the air. Highlights of their performance included, “Nicotine Dream” and “Unrequited Love (& other clichés).”
Next up at 8:30pm was Sarah and the Sundays. Their performance began with, “For Harry,” “Coward” and “You Might Not See Me Again,” all songs from their beloved album, The Living End. Shortly following the first couple of songs, the band immediately took the time to share the warmth Houston as they declared their love for the city.

The band then took turns recalling their previous times performing in the city. The first time was opening for the Happy Fits, second was opening for Sunroom, making this time their third time in Houston and their first time headlining.
The set continued with a the band’s own rendition of the popular song, “End of Beginning,” by Djo. As soon as the first note was played, the audience cheered in excitement for the unexpected, but very well received cover. The night continued with songs such as, “Don’t Make Me Cry Anymore,” “Veneer” and “Ruby Fields.” Each and every song the group played seemed to be better than the last. They gave their all to their performance, making every song a standout song.
In Addition to covers and already released originals, the band played loads of new ones as well, including a softer ballad titled, “Afterlife.” They also took the time to talk about their upcoming project, Like a Damn Dog, a new album in which their tour is named after. It was an exciting announcement that the audience showed their support for by cheering and exclaiming things such as, “We love you!” and “We can’t wait!”
Overall, Sarah and the Sundays gave an astonishing set that Houston couldn’t get enough of. The crowd was sad when the show was over, but the band assured them that they would be back soon.
