Teen Suicide Brings Fans a Night of All the Feels at Tulips

Teen Suicide and openers Joe Vann and Awakebutstillinbed begin their 2024 tour with an entrancing show at Tulips in Fort Worth, Texas.

Teen Suicide, originally from Baltimore, Maryland, began as a solo project in 2009 with current lead singer Sam Ray. Eventually, the project turned into a band and in 2012 released their debut album I Will Be My Own Hell Because There Is a Devil Inside My Body which features one of their most popular songs “no, the moon”. Currently Ray is accompanied by drummer Sean Mercer, keyboardist and vocalist (and wife to Sam) Kitty Ray, and bass player Nick Hughes. Together this band successfully creates a feeling of lofi-indie rock yet emo style sounds.

To begin the night off at the Tulips venue in Fort Worth, Texas, dreampop acoustic styler artist, Joe Vann, sets the stage with soft vocals and complex synths to prepare the crowd for a night full of diverse yet ingenious music.

As Vann finishes his set, Awakebutstillinbed band takes the stage. Originally from Mesquite, Texas, lead singer and band creator Shannon Taylor is not a newcomer to the great city of Fort Worth. Known for their alternative and indie style sounds, the band gave the crowd an opening show to remember with breathtaking vocals and clever riffs and tempos. As the group rapped up their high-energy set, the fans waited eager to have their headliner start the show, and as Teen Suicide set up on stage, the fans let out a wave of excitement for the night of music and melody to begin.

Not only playing from their previous records and most well-known songs, Teen Sucide gave the Fort Worth crowd a special treat by playing tracks that have not yet been performed live. As the fans took in the unique and euphoric sounds, the night was soon full of dancing, smiles, and applause.

Although the night had to come to an end in Fort Worth, Teen Suicide has just started their series of unforgettable nights. With Fort Worth being their first stop on their 2024 North American tour, the band is scheduled to travel to a plethora of cities such as Denver, Boston, Miami and much more. So if you are eager to spend a night in a trance of good music and good vibes, make sure to go see Teen Suicide when the are performing near you!

I am currently attending the University of North Texas with a photojournalism major. I love going to concerts of all genres, whether I am stage diving or headbanging, I never miss an opportunity to appreciate live music. In my free time, I enjoy thrifting for CD's and records, spending time with my cats, going to art exhibits, and traveling (especially to NYC). My biggest inspiration is Danny Clinch, and one day I aspire to open up my own gallery to showcase my work!
