The Beaches Blame Their Exes at the Echo Lounge & Music Hall in Dallas

Opener Charlie Houston accompanies headliner The Beaches at The Echo Lounge & Music Hall in Dallas.

Last weekend, rock band The Beaches continued their United States tour at the Echo Lounge & Music Hall in Dallas, Texas. On this run of the tour, they were joined by indie artist Charlie Houston. This show was sold out, and hundreds of fans congregated inside of the venue on the floor and balcony. Several fans wore customized t-shirts, and grabbed merchandise and signature cocktails before the show started.

The first act to hit the stage was Charlie Houston, an alternative artist from Toronto. Charlie has almost 500 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, and her track “Wide Awake” has accumulated more than 30 million streams. This year, Charlie has released a handful of singles including “Pink Cheetah Print Slip” and “Slut For Excel”. Charlie’s touring band consisted of her guitarist and drummer. She wore a leather jacket, jeans, and a Dallas Cowboys shirt. Despite a few technical problems, Charlie’s set was very groovy. She included a lot of crowd interaction, and also performed a cover of Busted’s “Year 3000”.

The second act to hit the stage was The Beaches, an indie band from Toronto. The Beaches have almost 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and their track “Blame Brett” has garnered more than 70 million streams. Last year, The Beaches released their second studio album titled Blame My Ex. Their stage design incorporated a large red curtain and bright white lights that spelled out their band name. The bands’ outfits were comfy yet fashionable, and they opened with their song “Cigarette”. Their setlist included many upbeat and catchy tracks such as “Me & Me”, “Everything Is Boring”, and “Jocelyn”.

The fans were singing and dancing along to every word, and truly seemed to be living in the moment. All in all, both Charlie Houston and The Beaches brought the heat to Texas.
