Good Vibes with Goth Babe at Toyota Music Factory in Irving

Feel-good indie rock artist, Goth Babe, played a lively set at Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Texas.

When the clock hit 7pm, the doors finally opened for the fans to prepare for a perfect way to spend an otherwise boring Wednesday night. Whether it was die hard fans of Goth Babe, their opener The Aces, or just a group of pals looking to have an exciting and upbeat night, the people rushed into the pit and their seats to await a blast to come. Plenty of groups decided to spend their time wandering around the pavilion, purchasing big pretzels you could smell from a mile away, or browsing the merchandise. Regardless of where people spent their time before the show, they all ended up inside the venue with energetic cheers as the spotlights shined on the drum set labeled “ACES.”

To prepare the crowd for the night to come, alternative indie-style band, The Aces, played an encapsulating performance. The Aces, from Provo, Utah, released their first single, “Stuck” in 2016, and since then have been delivering upbeat tracks to jam out to. During this anticipated Wednesday evening, The Aces stage presence and engagement with the crowd was unforgettable, as the band members performed with every ounce of energy in their bodies. Not only did this rocking girl group give the crowd a great opening for the night, but they also performed their newest single released just the day before, “The Magic.” As The Aces wrapped up their set, the audience was at a crossroads with being bummed a great set had ended, but also brimming with excitement for their headliner, Goth Babe, to make his appearance. 

After a brief intermission between sets, fans knew it was showtime as the lights in the venue began pulsating with the prevalent background of indie-esk beats playing. As the crowd began chanting “Goth Babe” repeatedly, the stage went black, and slowly, but surely, the neon strokes up light began illuminating the stage as Goth Babe walked onto the set. Goth Babe began experimenting in the music scene in 2015 and is currently a solo project with singer-songwriter Griff Washburn. Although he had been releasing singles for a few years now, Washburn’s very first studio album, Lola was released in January this year. Known for his catchy rhythms and airy and buoyant vocals, it was no surprise to see he brought the lively tracks on stage with him that night. Accompanied by his friends Hunter on guitar and Jonny on drums, this solo act is made possible on stage with the exciting riffs of Hunter and the overwhelming beats from Jonny. This set was an amazingly unforgettable performance, with the crowd showing smiles from ear to ear and the pit having a ball (literally). Throughout the already exhilarating set, colorful beach balls were thrown into the venue area, and the fans were able to belt out their favorite tracks while bouncing the soft airy beach balls across the venue. Overall, Goth Babe brought a fun-loving and sensational set to Toyota Music Factory, leaving fans with a sense of good vibrations all around.

With plenty of dates left on tour, Goth Babe is scheduled to not only stop in a few more cities in the United States, but also drop in other places such as Mexico, Canada, and Australia.
