Jane’s Addiction Play an Astonishing Show at 713 Music Hall

Jane’s Addiction stopped in Houston on August 19 during their North American Tour with support from Love and Rockets. 

36 years since the release of their debut studio album Nothing’s Shocking, Jane’s Addiction is still going strong. Formed in 1985 in Los Angeles, they are well known for their influence on the 90’s alternative rock scene. Most Recently, Jane’s Addiction began their North American tour in early August and have had several sold out dates so far. They visited 713 Music Hall in Houston along with openers Love and Rockets on Monday, August 19. 

Hailing from England, Love and Rockets consists of former members of goth rock band Bauhaus Daniel Ash, Kevin Haskins and David J. The group released their first album Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven in 1985, and have remained active since with their most recent record dropping in June of 2023. Love and Rockets kicked off the night with their electric 1980’s pop rock hits, opening with their track “The Light” from their 1987 album Earth Sun Moon.

Frontman Daniel Ash sported a stunning sequined suit and stylish shades, making him a beacon on stage. The band was energetic and interactive with the audience throughout their performance. They played their biggest hits including “No New Tale to Tell” and “So Alive”. Love and Rockets concluded their set with “Yin and Yang (The Flowerpot Man)”, a track from their sophomore album Express

Jane’s Addiction took the stage and opened their set with “Kettle Whistle” from their 1997 album of the same name. Frontman Perry Farrel was highly energetic on stage and seemed enthusiastic performing in front of such a crowded venue of fans. Meanwhile, guitarist Dave Navarro shredded his guitar like it was nothing. The entire band had captivating stage presence and amazing chemistry.

Jane’s Addiction released their single “Imminent Redemption” in July, and played the new track in the midst of their set. This single is the first new release from Jane’s Addiction in 13 years. To wrap things up, the band played one of their biggest hits “Been Caught Stealing” as an encore. The show was a great experience for fans since the band played many of their hits from their most popular albums. Jane’s Addictions North American tour will continue until late September.
