Slightly Stoopid Gets Closer to the Sun on the Lawn at White Oak Music Hall

Slightly Stoopid took over the Lawn at White Oak Music Hall in Houston on July 10 during their Step Into The Sun Tour with support from Little Stranger and Iration.

Slightly Stoopid is a reggae rock band from southern California. Formed in 1994, the group has released over 10 albums since their debut. Their latest single release, “Step Into The Sun” dropped on June 6 and is the epitome of a perfect summer song. They visited Houston on July 10 with Little Stranger and Iration for a fantastic evening in the summer sun.

Little Stranger kicked off the evening with their good vibes and catchy tunes. The alternative hip hop duo from South Carolina had the crowd pumped from the start. Many of the fans in attendance knew and sang along to every song they performed, making for a perfect start to the night.

Next up was Iration. Formed in Santa Barbara, California, Iration is a reggae pop band with a dedicated fan base and countless songs perfect for summer nights like this one. The group formed in 2004 and has released nearly a dozen albums. They released their newest single “Say Goodnight” featuring Little Stranger in June, which they performed together on stage.

Iration also played a mind-blowing cover of “The Joker” by Steve Miller Band, along with some of their very own most notable tracks such as “Time Bomb” and “Falling”, both from their hit 2010 album Time Bomb. The vibes in the crowd were immaculate, and the band performed with breathtaking talent and stage presence like no other.

Finally, headliner Slightly Stoopid took the stage. The band is highly regarded in the reggae rock scene for a reason. They put on amazing performances and sound incredible at every show. They have a very dedicated community of fans across the country and are immensely humble and kind. Slightly Stoopid kicked things off with the track “Niceness” featuring rapper Chali 2na with them on stage. The vibes were perfect and the crowd was immersed in the music from the start.

They performed “Somebody” with Little Stranger, and Chali 2na revisited the band on stage for multiple songs including “Top of the World”, “Comin’ Through” and Chali 2na’s very own song “Hands High”. Slightly Stoopid could not leave the stage without performing “Closer to the Sun”, their most popular song by far. They wrapped things up with a cover of “Young Wild & Free” by Snoop Dogg. The entire night seemed perfect and every fan left feeling satisfied and excited.
