UK Singer PinkPantheress brought the sold-out ‘Capable of Love’ tour to Houston’s White Oak Music Hall with support from Kanii.
Victoria Beverley Walker, also known to the world as PinkPantheress, has been taking the hyperpop world by storm. She garnered attention through TikTok, as clips from her songs “Just for Me” and “Pain” became viral in 2021. After the release of her debut mixtape, she released her debut album titled Heaven Knows in November of 2023, subsequently announcing a headlining world-tour and opening dates with pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo.
The crowd immediately rushed into the venue in order to get a good spot. This was easily one of the most stylish shows White Oak has ever seen, as people went out with their outfits – from bejeweled hats and a variety of tiny purses to anime-like fits featuring beautiful head pieces and thigh-high platform boots. First up was Kanii, a well-known rapper from the streets of D.C. He serenaded the crowd with songs like “sin” and “heart racing,” which hyped up the crowd immediately.
The lights dimmed and everyone took out their phones and held their tiny purses up high – it was time for PinkPantheress. The stage was filled with smoke, and the grand mirror shined bright as the singer’s backing band showed up on stage. PinkPanthress ran out to the crowd to the tune of “Break It Off,” and everyone started jumping. The singer danced all over the stage and greeted Houston with a warm welcome, and continued to perform songs like “I Must Apologise,” “Mosquito” and “Pain.” The first act of the show ended with “Last Valentines,” where the singer exclaimed how hot it was in the venue and Houston in general before waltzing away backstage.
Act II immediately began with an excerpt from her latest album Heaven Knows, when she returned to perform the first single, “Capable of Love.” Fans threw multiple things on stage, such as tiny handbags and bracelets*. During this act, PinkPantheress showcased songs like “Noticed I Cried” and “Feel Complete,” ending with “Bury Me.” Act III commenced, and it was short yet gut-wrenching. She talked to the crowd about her come-up and how appreciative she is of her fans, and continued to perform “Another life,” “True Romance” and “Reason.”
Closing out the show was Act IV, as PinkPantheress brought back her silly dance moves across the stage holding two handbags. “If you know me, I cannot live without my little handbags – I carry EVERYTHING in here” she exclaimed before singing the titular song “Boy’s A Liar (PT. 2).” Although the absence of Ice Spice was burdening, the crowd sang her part perfectly, ending the show on a high-note.
PinkPantheress has made it known that she takes importance in her stage presence as well as interaction, as the singer continuously asked random people in the crowd questions and positively called out a few fans’ posters + signs. On top of putting on a good performance, she works hard to make sure her fans know they are loved, which is a great thing to see with artists that are on the rise. The main lesson: no matter how famous or well-known you become, you always remember where you started and who got you there. PinkPantheress… you are the embodiment of that lesson.
*A fan threw a bouquet of flowers to the singer where PinkPantheress said “If that would’ve hit me in the face, we would’ve had legal issues.” It’s an understandable thing to want to gift a performer, but only do so when approached or told. Fans don’t understand that throwing items is deemed disrespectful, and shouldn’t be doing it in the first place. Learn some concert etiquette.
