Black Pumas Play an Unforgettable Show at House of Blues Houston

Psychedelic soul band Black Pumas visited House of Blues Houston with support from Danielle Ponder on their US tour.

Black Pumas are well known for their groovy instrumentals and soulful lyricism. The psychedelic soul band from Austin, Texas released their newest album Chronicles of a Diamond on October 27. The group is playing over a dozen shows across the country to promote the new record — seven of which being in Texas’ major cities, including two back to back sold out shows at House of Blues Houston with opener Danielle Ponder.

R&B and soul musician Danielle Ponder kicked off the night with her stunning voice and talented backing band. She performed her biggest hits “Some Of Us Are Brave” and “So Long” as well as a cover of Radiohead’s “Creep”.

Black Pumas took to the stage and opened their set with the track “Fire”. Frontman Eric Burton had amazing showmanship right from the start. He was highly interactive with the crowd, even jumping from the stage into the audience to dance with a lucky fan. The energy on stage and in the audience was immense and radiant throughout the whole night. Black Pumas played their most notable songs “Colors” and “Black Moon Rising”, as well as some tracks from their newest record including “More Than a Love Song” and “Mrs. Postman”. To wrap up, the band performed the acoustic track “Hello” followed by “Rock and Roll” for their encore, leaving the crowd with unforgettable memories of the incredible performance.

I’m a Houston based photographer who loves being around live music and all the creative people involved in the local music scene. I enjoy capturing performers and artists doing what they love and the essence of how live music makes people feel. When Im not behind the lens, I love trying new things and visiting new places.
