David Byrne brought the ‘Who is the Sky?’ tour to Houston’s Smart Financial Center for an evening full of avant-garde performances along with classic Talking Heads tracks.
Legendary singer David Byrne turned Sugar Land’s Smart Financial Centre into an exhilarating place of rhythm and theater. Backed by an untethered, mobile ensemble of musicians draped in matching blue suits, the former Talking Heads frontman proved once again that he remains one of music’s most unapologetically eccentric visual artists. Blending minimalist choreography, deeply humanistic storytelling, and a career-spanning setlist that bridged art-punk classics with joyous solo material, Byrne delivered a performance that was equal parts avant-garde spectacle and collective catharsis. His ‘Who is the Sky?’ tour is a brilliant reminder of why he is an absolute, incomparable icon.

I'm a full-time music journalist/photographer from Houston, number one Paramore fan and Husky dog owner. I have a B.S in Radio-Television-Film from UT Austin and a M.A in Mass Communications from the University of Houston, which makes me smart! On top of being an avid concert-goer and movie fanatic, I love bonding with others over the power of local music and media.
