A Retrospective Look Back into the 10+ Year Journey of 5 Seconds of Summer

We are a “Complete Mess” over 5SOS 10 year anniversary and announcement of the 5 Seconds of Summer Show World Tour!

Australian based pop-rock band 5 Seconds of Summer first began their musical journey in 2011 after becoming “Best Friends” during their childhood and quickly bonded over their lifelong dream of being in a band. The group has then been inseparable for over the past 10 years and still maintain the energy and love for the music and their lifelong friendship.

Throughout their time together, band members Luke Hemmings (Vocals/guitar), Michael Clifford (Guitar), Calum Hood (Bass), and Ashton Irwin (Drums) have created a dedicated fanbase worldwide. Within their extensive period of being in a band, 5 Seconds of Summer has released 5 studio albums, 3 live albums, and a live DVD documentary.

The band released their self-titled album in June 2014 that contained heavy rock/pop-punk sound influences that quickly gained them overnight stardom. Their teenage angst and rebellious nature also carried their way over their sophomore album, Sounds Good Feels Good released in October 2015.

However as the band matured, they began to explore different sounds, adding on synth-pop and industrial elements, heading into a new exhilarating sonically experience. The new chapter began when 5SOS released their third album, Youngblood, in June 2018, and worked their way up to their fourth record, CALM, in March 2020.

Recently, 5 Seconds of Summer released their fifth studio album, 5SOS5, on September 23rd, 2022, produced by Michael Clifford. The spontaneous creation of the record occurred amidst the pandemic during their stay at Joshua Tree in the scorching deserts of California. The album is a collection consisting of many different influences that show the band’s new creative direction and standpoint.

In celebration of 5SOS5,  the band performed a special one-night event that was filmed and recorded at the Royal Albert Hall in London.. This became a live album, The Feeling of Falling Upwards – Live from the Royal Albert Hall, and was released on July 14th 2023. The record includes tracks from their discography as well as reimagined tracks of choir and string orchestra arrangements.

Fast forward in time, to celebrate their huge milestone anniversary, 5SOS surprised fans with a very special 10 Year Anniversary Show as a token of gratitude. The event was live-streamed on Youtube and  an interview of the band where they discussed their musical journey, live performances of fan favorite tracks, and hilarious skits full of inside jokes.

To commemorate their outstanding 10 year anniversary and the release of their 5th studio album “5SOS5”, the band are heading out on tour!

5SOS presents “The 5 Seconds of Summer Show” world tour bringing dates all across North America! The tour is expected to be full of surprises including a setlist that takes you along the band’s journey.
