The Omies: Houston’s Hottest Up-and-Coming Indie Band

If you’re involved in the Houston music scene, you’ve heard of The Omies.

Formed just over a year ago in Fall 2024, The Omies have quickly made a name for themselves, becoming the band that everyone in the scene has been talking about. Comprised of Hector Gonzalez (vocals, guitar), Theo Iria (bass), Nick Monticello (drums), and Cole Wilbur (vocals, guitar, synth, harmonica), this group of four has had a breakout year with their dancey tunes and undeniable stage presence.

Over the past year, the group has released their first five singles as The Omies. From songs such as “Vultures” to “Judith” and “Bummer,” each tune stands extremely strong on its own while collectively shaping the distinct sound of the band overall.

What truly sets The Omies apart, though, are their live performances. Having seen them a few different times, it’s clear they have a rare ability to connect with each and every crowd they play for. The band pairs strong musical talent with a fun, warm energy that fully draws in the crowd, leaving audiences wishing they’d never leave the stage. Beyond their home city of Houston, The Omies have also brought the same excitement to stages in San Marcos, Austin, and New Orleans.

After such an exciting year, everyone is asking: what’s next for The Omies? Well, not only are they kicking off 2026 with a sold-out show at White Oak Music Hall, but they also have plans for shows in other cities and the release of slate of singles and an EP. It’s clear that 2025 was a great year for the band, but with the momentum they’ve built, 2026 is shaping up to be even bigger.

I am from Houston, Texas and currently attending the University of Houston as a marketing major! From attending concerts, playing guitar, and collecting vinyl, I love anything that has to do with music. Some of my favorite artists include The Strokes, Omar Apollo, and boygenius. Besides that, I really like shopping, watching Pitch Perfect, and discovering new places in Houston!
