Stephen Sanchez Shakes the Salt Shed in Chicago with a Bang!

“In 1958, Stephen Sanchez & The Moon Crests made their debut on the Connie Co Show!” One of Stephen Sanchez’ biggest tour stops yet takes place at the Salt Shed in Chicago, Illinois with support from The Brook & The Bluff.

On Wednesday September 25th, Stephen performed at the Salt Shed in Chicago. This was an extremely packed show from people of all ages that came to support the performance of music from his most recent album “Angel Face.” Opening up for him to start off the night was The Brook & The Bluff, who also released their latest record, Bluebeard, last year. They’re a successful young band at the center of the indie-folk revival that performed with electrifying sets of various tracks that they played like “Pastels” and “Tangerine” before Sanchez makes his special appearance tonight. The band was highly appreciated by Chicago’s concert-goers!

Not too long after, we were introduced to the host Connie, from the Connie Co Show that was speaking in front of the retro styled stage set-up; who was announcing Stephen Sanchez to appear on stage! Once he did, the stage rotated and there appeared Sanchez with the introduction to “Evangeline,” the lights turned on and the stage was glistening in lights that felt straight out of the 1960s. He then continued it with “Only Girl” having the fans go crazy once the music became more upbeat and the lights started flashing their way throughout the night.

Sanchez continued with other songs from “Doesn’t Do Me Any Good,” “Be More,” and “The Pool” that really highlighted his range in vocals and dancing that heightened the energy throughout the night. Let’s not forget how he also covered a few classics like “Put Your Head On My Shoulder” and “Pretty Woman” that were a perfect fit to the vibes of the show, his style, and the fans. Sanchez did walk into the crowd three times throughout the night to engage with fans that were further in the back to create an intimate and super sweet memorable moment in time with him making those connections as he serenaded them throughout the crowd.

In between the middle of his set, the host had Stephen join him for an interview of fan questions that were sent the day of the show. He shared that he used to want to be a teacher or a barber before pursuing music; then showed appreciation to fans who raised their hands in the crowd that do that for work. Sanchez then continued his set with “Howling at the Wolves” and “High,” where he ended up climbing the balcony to seated guests and kept everyone’s energy extremely high! As it almost came to a close after that with only two songs left, it was time for what many fans were waiting for “Until I Found You,” where he had the fans sing along to his song to the point where he almost didn’t have to use his microphone. It was an amazing way to really close it off right before finishing off the night to go crazy to “Shake” as his last song; where he ended up going all in for the stage dancing, strobing lights behind along with his amazing band for an electrifying performance.

If this doesn’t convince you to check him out on tour before it’s over, you’re missing out! From an amazing stage presence beginning to end, it’s something you wouldn’t want to miss next time in Chicago.

I'm based by the Chicagoland area in Illinois. I would describe myself as a multidisciplinary artist who specializes in photo, design and some illustration. I am a recent graduate in Graphic Design and love being involved in the entertainment industry. I love thrifting, visiting galleries/museums, listening to podcasts and going to countless concerts when I can. My very first concert was the Jonas Brothers when I was very little!
