5 Seconds of Summer took over Austin’s Moody Center, and brought an unforgettable night of high-energy pop-punk to the music capital of the world.
5 Seconds of Summer took the stage at Austin’s Moody Center on June 21st to an arena whose anticipation had been building long before they even hit the stage. Fifteen years into their career, the band could have easily leaned on nostalgia, but the Everyone’s a Star! World Tour showed they’re just as focused on where they’re going as where they’ve been.
From the opening moments, the energy in the room was impossible to ignore. Kicking things off with “NOT OK,” “No. 1 Obsession,” and the hard-hitting “Teeth,” the band’s opening act immediately set the tone for the night. Rather than following a traditional setlist, the show unfolded in different acts, with each representing a different point in the band’s eras. Fans screamed every lyric, whether it came from the band’s earliest records or newer songs like “More,” “Boyband,” and “Telephone Busy,” making it clear this wasn’t a crowd waiting around for the hits. Every era had its moment, and the audience celebrated each of them with the same excitement.
The show looked incredible. The pink Cadillac at the center of the stage, the catwalk, and the visuals all felt carefully designed with every fan in mind, whether they were in the pit, on the floor, or high in the arena seats. During the more emotional Yearning act, performances of “Bad Omens,” “Ghost of You,” and “I’m Scared I’ll Never Sleep Again” brought a different atmosphere to the room before the pace shifted once again.

Watching each member step into the spotlight individually during The Breakup act, performing songs from their solo projects like “Starting Line,” “Have U Found What Ur Looking For?,” “Don’t Forget You Love Me,” and “enough,” gave the arena a chance to slow down before the energy ramped right back up. It was difficult not to get caught up in the moment myself.
One thing that’s always separated 5 Seconds of Summer from a lot of other artists is how comfortable they are onstage together. Between songs, they joked with each other as if they were hanging out instead of performing for thousands of people, and that relaxed chemistry carried through the entire night. The way they revealed the surprise song was especially fun. A lucky fan that received the golden ticket got to help reveal the fan-voted choices before the band hilariously threw everyone a curveball by choosing “Cool Dad” instead. The decision was met with laughter as cameras found dads scattered throughout the arena, making it the perfect Father’s Day moment.
Hearing thousands of fans sing along to “Amnesia” was one of the night’s most emotional moments before the band launched into a run of fan favorites including “English Love Affair,” “Voodoo Doll,” “Waste the Night,” “Jet Black Heart,” and “She Looks So Perfect.” During “Everyone’s a Star!,” the band left the stage to walk through the arena floor, giving fans an unexpected chance to see them up close.
Every song felt like its own performance rather than simply another stop on the setlist. It made for a more immersive experience, and there wasn’t a single moment where the entire arena wasn’t on its feet anticipating what would come next. Austin wasn’t just another stop on their world tour, Moody Center witnessed a band that still genuinely enjoys sharing the stage with each other and with the fans who have grown up alongside them.
By the time “Youngblood” brought the night to a close, it was obvious why 5 Seconds of Summer continue to sell out arenas more than a decade into their career. The show wasn’t just about celebrating fifteen years together, it was about proving that they’re still evolving while holding onto everything that made people fall in love with them in the first place.
