Djo Rocks Houston Crowd Away

Djo stunned their Houston show, with fun music and casual vibe, alongside another Chicago-based band, Post Animal.

Joe Keery has proven himself to be a multi-faceted performer, and his amazing stage presence during Djo’s Back On You Tour has only solidified that reputation. The Stranger Things star packed Houston’s White Oak Music Hall Lawn stage, and left fans eager for more.

First, Post Animal started the night off with a strong kick. They brought a fun indie rock tune that got fans excited for the show to come. They played fan favorites (or at least my personal favorite song) “Pie in the Sky” which had fans dancing and finally enjoying the Houston weather.

Post Animal was originally formed by Joe Keery, which makes sharing the stage with him even more special. Keery’s artistic influence is still clearly imprinted on to the band. Both of them meet psychedelic rock and alternative indie music to make a distinctly unique fun and groovy beat.

Next, the long awaited Djo, came on stage. Joe Keery excited the crowd with his amazing vocals. He started the night off strong with the song, “Awake”, which was later followed by “Basic Being Basic”. Both of these songs were playful, yet clearly crafted intentionally by Keery. Often, in Keery’s music, he channels his feelings and changes as he grows older, The Crux, his most recent album, is a clear example of that.

As the set continued, Keery continued to find ways to invigorate the crowd. He remarked “y’all are a fun one”, when he saw just how loud the crowd continued to cheer. Later, Keery played “Roddy”, as a dedication to first time concert goers who may have been in the crowd. As he began to end his set, he played a fan-favorite “End of Beginning”.

The crowd exploded in cheers as Keery left the stage. However, he quickly came back on for an encore and ended the set with “Chateau” and “Flash Mountain” with Post Animals.
Keery brought an amazing night to Houston. Check him out while he is still touring.

I am a student at University of Houston currently studying Strategic Communications. In my free time, I write for different publications as I am extremely passionate about music. I collect vinyls, go to concerts, and play guitar. Some of my favorite artists include Paramore, Kendrick Lamar, and Lorde. On the weekends I make pottery, sew, and spend time with my dog.

I am from Houston, Texas and currently attending the University of Houston as a marketing major! From attending concerts, playing guitar, and collecting vinyl, I love anything that has to do with music. Some of my favorite artists include The Strokes, Omar Apollo, and boygenius. Besides that, I really like shopping, watching Pitch Perfect, and discovering new places in Houston!
