Waterparks Sells Out Their Hometown on The Prowler Tour

Houston natives Waterparks treated their hometown to a sold out, high energy magical evening at House of Blues last week.

Kicking off the evening was Jhariah, the singer and his band were nothing short of electric the entire time they were on stage.  Blending funky melodies, soulful vocals and backed by a killer band even throwing a saxaphone in the mix; Jhariah and his band do not stop moving their entire set.  Kicking off the evening with “BIGSHOT” , Jhariah and company gave the audience a larger than life performance during their brief thirty minute set that got everyone’s energy up immediately for an amazing night to come.

IDK How But They Found Me were the next band to hit the stage.  Having toured with Waterparks in the past, many of the fans in attendance were already familiar with the witty banter and catchy songs that IDK brought to the table.  Frontman Dallon Weekes brings a touch of sass and flare during the entire performance, while the whole band completely amps the crowd up from start to finish.  Opener Jhariah even came out to join the band during their performance of “Nobody Likes The Opening Band” to take a playful jab at their buddies in Waterparks by changing the lyrics to say “Nobody likes the headlining band.”

At last the lights went down, a montage of clips of Waterparks from different eras of their career started playing on the screen behind the stage set up.  Fans screamed with excitement as it came to a crescendo and “THE WATERPARKS SHOW” displayed across the screen, as the three members took to the stage and immediately went into the power pop anthem “Blonde” from their 2018 record Entertainment.

Frontman Awsten Knight, guitarist Geoff Wigington and drummer Otto Wood all were continually grateful for crowd as this evening was particularly special considering Houston is their hometown. Waterparks was once a tiny local band playing the most intimate small rooms around the Houston area and now are touring the country and playing sold out venues left and right.  The pride from the crowd was palpable as House of Blues Houston was packed full of both old school and new school fans of the band as well as extensive amounts of family members and close friends that came out to support these hometown heroes.

Waterparks’ set on the Prowler tour has been their longest headlining set to date. Clocking in at well over twenty plus songs and ninety minutes the band has the setlist cut up into different sections of sorts; sadness, anticipation and anger are just a few categories the band uses to play different songs spanning their entire catalog.  Every night on this tour they are also letting the audience choose between two sets of two songs that they will play for that night, a fantastic tactic that the fans seem to be going crazy for.

Along with the vast array of songs from their past albums, the band has also been debuting two completely new, unreleased songs every evening that have both been met with a wide approval from the diehard fans of the band.  No release date or even mention of a new album has been confirmed by the band yet,  but it wouldn’t be a shock to expect a brand new full length album from Waterparks in the very near future.

The Prowler tour has just begun and is Waterparks lover’s dream.  From the set design to the dynamic lighting and song choices, it is not one to miss.
