Unleashing Musical Magic: Johnny Manchild and the Poor Bastards Illuminate White Oak Music Hall

On February 26th, vibrant melodies filled White Oak Music Hall as Johnny Manchild and the Poor Bastards took the stage for their Rapture Tour. A crowd of enthusiastic fans eagerly anticipated the upcoming performances.

First to take the stage is Redefining Rescue with their song, “When the Sun Goes Down,” from their most recent album, Less Than Perfect. Based in Houston, TX, Redefining Rescue comprises Luis Grimaldo, Jordan Cravens, Mark Garner, Austin Serrett and Jared Knight. Renowned for its diverse repertoire spanning multiple genres, the band primarily identifies as an Alternative pop-rock ensemble. After their intro song, they introduced themselves to the crowd.

Charlie, Tommy and Mikey Maddocks are the trio behind the Denver-based alt-rock band. Their dynamic live performances and introspective songwriting have swiftly gained acclaim across the U.S. and U.K. They soon spoke to the crowd, introducing themselves.

Hello, how are we doing tonight? We are called Holdfast. We are three brothers from Denver, Colorado, and it’s our first time in Houston, so this is awesome! This is show number five of Johnny Manchild and the Poor Bastards, so we are super pumped, and we’re just getting started! My name is Charlie, and please welcome my brother Mikey Maddocks on bass! And Tommy on drums!

The brothers were energetic on stage with a fantastic presence, engaging the crowd throughout their performance. It was an excellent segment during “Tom’s Song” when Tommy took the front stage on a single drum with Charlie following him and having fun playing it. It showed the deep connection they have for each other. Standout songs from their performance are “Time” and “Real Life.” They ended their set with the song “Drive,” and soon, the night’s main act would take the stage.

Johnny Manchild and the Poor Bastards started with their song “Fake Me Out,” with phenomenal instrumentals and vocals from the band. The band is a musical project led by Johnny Manchild, based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Their music blends elements of jazz, funk, rock, and soul, creating a unique and dynamic sound.
