The Regrettes perform one of three farewell shows at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
After announcing their split after 8 years of performing and making music together, alternative rock band, The Regrettes, put on three farewell shows at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles as one last goodbye to their diehard fans after the members decided to pursue other projects.
The group performed beloved hits and popular singles such as “Seashore” and “Lacy Loo” from their musically genius EPs and albums. The band is composed of frontwoman Lydia Night on vocals and guitar, Genessa Gariano on guitar, Brooke Dickson on bass, and Drew Thomsen on drums. The mainly female and non-binary rock group brings about a sound that perfectly resonates with a perfect blend of riot grrl, garage punk, and pop rock style with their songs lyrics and messages typically mentioning or tying in feminist themes. Throughout the show, which was the first of three of their farewell concerts, the musicians made sure to interact with fans and express their gratitude towards their audience for the support they’ve received for the past 8 years. The entire band were donned in matching white jumpsuits with black hearts printed on the back except for Lydia’s, which had the message “Thank you” painted on hers instead. Also graffitied on the banner behind the group were the words “we <3 u, Goodbye.”
Some highlights from the show include Lydia jumping into the crowd mid-song to sign merch and vinyls brought by fans. The group’s catchy and somewhat aggressive music made for the perfect tunes for fans to mosh and crowd surf to multiple times throughout the show. During their set the group made sure to share a heartfelt message to their fans and the band shared a tearful embrace on stage. Near the end of the show, Lydia mentioned to the audience that her dad was in the crowd and that he had expressed an interest in stage diving during the concert. As they played their last song, his wishes were accommodated as he and one of their core crew members, Dan, both dived into the audience and crowd surfed to the music.
Despite the news of their split, The Regrettes put on a blast of a performance for their loyal fans, as one last goodbye and thank you for the support they’ve received throughout their music career as a group.
