Electronic Music Producer Zhu Lights Up Chinatown’s Gin Ling Way in Los Angeles

In celebration of Chinese New Year, electronic producer ZHU plays DJ set at Chinatown’s Gin Ling Way.

To celebrate the release of his fourth studio album, titled “Grace,” acclaimed music producer, Zhu, held a concert in the heart of LA’s Chinatown at Gin Ling Way. An established artist within the festival and electronic music scene, he performed a DJ set to an upbeat crowd of fans. During his career, Zhu has collaborated with artists such as Tinashe and Skrillex and has had his music featured in media such as the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Mortal Kombat. He has also performed at festivals such as EDC: Las Vegas and Lollapalooza. DJs Julienne By and Sohmi opened for his show, with Zhu joining Sohmi at the turntable near the end of her set.

Zhu’s eclectic performance made it more than easy for his audience to get hyped up during his set. During his set, Zhu brought onto the stage surprise guest, singer and songwriter, Upsahl, to perform their single “Thrill Again.” His show made for a fantastic display of his Chinese-American heritage as he held his show around Lunar New Year and even invited local lion dancers to perform on stage alongside him. Audience members bought confetti cannons from local vendors and as boxes of them were set off throughout the night, it wasn’t long before the entire venue was littered in confetti. During the show, Zhu displayed not only his incredible ear for beats and mixes, but also some vocals too, surprising his crowd with some singing and rapping.
