The indie-rock group celebrates the release of their album “Time Will Wait For No One.”
Vignette light illuminates a circular frame around giant foil balloon letters “LN” as three members join together mid stage.The three are greeted with echoed cheers and drinks in the air as they harmonize to their titled song of their latest album, “Time Will Wait For No One”. Although the audience is packed in like sardines, they do not seem to care as they limitlessly move making the room look like a rippling pond. Local Natives can possibly be found in the same playlist as Young the Giant, Real Estate and Summer Salt considering that when listening to their music, driving spontaneously with all the windows down to a state with mountains is tempting.
The young granola longing Texan teens and the mature hippies at heart float to the melodic guitar and sweet harmonious vocals. Just watching them felt freeing. In commemoration for the 10 year anniversary of their sophomore album Hummingbird, the band surprised the crowd by playing “You & I” encouraging more dancing. Their well known labeled genre falls under Indie Rock but their undertones of glossy pop and an alternative mix. Local Natives definitely fit under mountain music if that were a genre. The loving modern hippie tunes fill listeners up with so much emotion, it takes control. Closing out the night Local Natives end with a heartfelt groove, “When Am I Going To Lose You” off of their 2019 release Violet Street. Regardless of being a fan or just wanting to dance, seeing Local Natives live is a gateway to feeling that post concert high for days to come.
