Album Review: ‘(((((ultraSOUND)))))’ by The Neighbourhood

The Neighbourhood is just in time to take their place as a part of indie autumn with new album, (((((ultraSOUND))))).

After five long years, indie pop band The Neighbourhood has finally released their new album, (((((ultraSOUND))))). Not only does it have their signature black and white California beach vibes, but includes elements of rock and experimentation. In other words, Tumblr is so back. After listening to (((((ultraSOUND))))), listeners can tell that The Neighbourhood wanted to bring a sense of nostalgia to the album. Additionally, they wanted to try something fresh within the album without straying too far from their well-known musical style.

The band’s new era started just a few months ago. Suddenly, they started posting photos regularly on their social media platforms. Photos depicted the entire band together, sometimes in a studio, all alluding to fans getting a brand new album. Not long after, The Neighbourhood released three songs off their new album, “OMG,” “Lovebomb” and “Private”. Fans were very pleased with the singles and also very excited to hear the rest of the album.

Naturally, to go along with their brand new album, The Neighbourhood decided to announce their tour starting next year. And to the band’s surprise, the tour had almost completely sold out on the first day of ticket sales.

Along with (((((ultraSOUND))))) being released, the band had a special gift for their fans for the 10th anniversary of their 2015 album, Wiped Out!. This included the band putting out not only four additional songs to the album, but also adding quite a few demos/memos of songs that came out 10 years ago. Along with adding to the album, the band decided to do a pop-up in LA where fans could not only buy merch and a limited edition vinyl of the 10th anniversary edition of Wiped Out!, but they also got the chance to meet the band members themselves.

Overall, (((((ultraSOUND))))) is a fresh, new, yet familiar addition to the band’s discography and is the perfect album to come out just in time for indie autumn. (((((ultraSOUND))))) can be found and streamed on all major music platforms.
