311 and Dirty Heads Take Over The Woodlands Pavilion

311 and Dirty Heads visited The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on August 23 on their co-headlining So Glad You Made It Tour with support from Rome and Atmosphere.

311 is an alternative rock band formed in Omaha, Nebraska in 1988. They have 14 studio albums, the latest of which is named Full Bloom, and came out in 2024. Joined by 311 on tour, California based reggae rock band Dirty Heads just released their ninth studio album, 7 Seas, in June of this year. With support from Rome and Atmosphere, 311 and Dirty Heads stopped in The Woodlands, Texas during their co-headlining So Glad You Made It Tour on August 23. 

First to take the stage was Rome. Known for being the frontman of Sublime with Rome, Rome Ramirez is a reggae singer-songwriter from California. In 2009, Rome banded with Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh of Sublime, forming Sublime with Rome. He remained in the band for over a decade and put out four albums with them.

After Rome’s departure from Sublime with Rome in 2024, he began a solo career. Rome’s chill, groovy tunes made for a great kick-off to the night. He performed “Slow & Easy”, a track featuring Dirty Heads off the Gemini EP. Rome also played a few Sublime with Rome tracks including “You Better Listen” and “Cool & Collected”, along with a cover of one of Sublime’s fan-favorite hits, “Badfish”.

Next up, fans were greeted by Atmosphere, a hip-hop duo from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The group has been active since 1989 and has released dozens of studio albums. They opened their set with “Locusts”, a track from their 2025 album Jestures. The vibes were great as vocalist Slug danced around and interacted with fans in the front row while he rapped. Atmosphere also performed some of their biggest hits, such as “The Best Day”, “GodLovesUgly” and “Yesterday”. All around, Atmosphere did a great job setting the mood for the rest of the night to come.

Dirty Heads took the stage and were met with loud applause and cheers from the sea of fans. With an extensive catalog of hit songs and incredible albums, the band has a massively dedicated following. Backed by several members on horns, keys and percussion, frontmen Jared Watson and Dustin Bushnell brought the energy throughout the whole performance. They played multiple songs from their new record 7 Seas, including “Seven Seas”, “Sound Boy Killa”, “Better” and “One Of Those Days”.

The high energy and stage presence made the set all the more entertaining and memorable. Rome joined the band on stage to perform “Lay Me Down”, a Dirty Heads song he was featured on back in 2012. Dirty Heads also played their own rendition of “Life’s Been Good” by Joe Walsh, which had the crowd singing along. They concluded their performance with the track “Medusa”, from their 2014 record Sound Of Change.

Last to take the stage was 311. They opened their set with one of their most famous tunes, “Beautiful Disaster”, off their 1997 album Transistor. Frontman Nick Hexum brought the energy immediately with his head-banging and heavy guitar riffs. Following the first song, two more fan-favorite tracks immediately followed, “All Mixed Up” and “Come Original”.

311 is known to have incredible stage presence and great chemistry between bandmates during live performances. DJ and vocalist S.A. Martinez dances effortlessly on stage between his verses, while bassist Aaron “P-Nut” Wills shines brightly with his signature 5-string bass equipped with light-up fret markers. Drummer Chad Sexton holds down the rhythm with his impressive drum skills, while lead guitarist Tim Mahoney blows everyone away with his riffs. The band is wildly entertaining to watch, and their live shows famously contain an extended drum solo during the song “Applied Science”. Chad Sexton went crazy on the drums during his solo, and was later joined by the rest of the band as they played along on floor toms and cymbals.

The band wrapped up their performance with their two biggest hits, “Amber” and “Down”. After a night jam-packed with amazing rock and reggae music, 311 ended it perfectly. The So Glad You Made It Tour will conclude on August 30 in Florida.
