From My Chemical Romance to all his recent solo projects, Frank Iero looks back on his first solo album, “Stomachaches” with a special 10-year re-release.
Frank Iero has been a part of many music projects throughout his career. Still, it’s safe to say that “Stomachaches” holds a special place in the hearts of him and his fans, due to the record being his very first solo project after My Chemical Romance’s breakup in 2013.
Announced in 2014, Frank Iero was now “frnkiero and the cellabration”, where he released the album “Stomachaches” under this name. The album was an alternative rock 12-track album. Featuring his most popular singles, “Weighted”, “Joyriding”, and “She’s the Prettiest Girl at the Party, and She Can Prove It with a Solid Right Hook”. The album was a hit and set the stage for the next installments Frank had in store (Frank Iero and the Patience and Frank Iero and the Future Violents).
With the album now hitting its 10th anniversary on August 25th of this year, Frank took to Instagram to share his thoughts and plans for the special day.
“As I reflect on 10 years of Stomachaches living in the world, I have compiled a musical collection that I think will show you who I was and where my head was at in and around 2014.”
Frank had made a post calling fans for a project. Wanting those who attended his solo shows years ago to send in videos for the release of “XNauseousX”. A deluxe anniversary re-release of “Stomachaches”, releasing August 30th, that would include 12 new tracks, adding to what was originally on the first album.
In those 12 tracks were some brand new unheard songs, some live versions of older tracks from BBC Maida Vale Studios, and even a cover of Green Day’s “Extraordinary Girl”. “Stomachaches is now 10 years old and will finally be able to carry with it all the other pieces that make it whole, like we all do on a daily basis. And I’m proud to share what it is, for better or worse, because it makes me who I am.”
It’s obvious to see how much love and care was put into this album at the time of its release, and now 10 years later. It is able to show growth from being in MCR to now and being able to look back on it positively. He mentions a lot about how this album was never expected to see the light of day, but we’re all glad it did.
Now stepping away from his solo projects and putting more time into his current bands, (L.S. Dunes, and My Chemical Romance) Frank has many accomplishments and things to look back on.
Just like it was back then, this re-release was also greatly received by fans. With many begging for another solo tour for this release and many sharing fan art and their own personal merch for the release. Rock Sound has also recently presented the Rock Sound 25 Icon Award to Frank.
Still riding the high of “XNauseousX”, Frank still has stuff ahead of him. With new releases and performances from L.S. Dunes and My Chemical Romance coming up for When We Were Young Fest in October. Fans can also keep hoping for that solo tour or maybe what he’ll have planned for the anniversaries of “The Patience” and “The Future Violents.”
