What’s It Fest Day Two: Alt Takeover at White Oak Music Hall in Houston

Day 2 of What’s It Fest packed White Oak Music Hall. Houston’s favorite indie bands, Orion 224, Elevator Days and Midnight Beverage made the crowd cheer.

Although What’s It Fest was organized recently, they put together a music festival that was much needed. What’s It Fest highlighted local bands and vendors, bringing together a fun space with good vibes and even better music.

Day two of the festival highlighted local indie or alternative bands from all over Texas. NU SHOP, ORION 224, Elevator Days and Midnight Beverage were all from Houston, while Slow Joy and Ghost Lux were from Dallas and Lubbock respectively.

First, NU SHOP took the stage with their blending of metal and pop to bring an energetic vibe to White Oak Music Hall. Specifically, the song “Screw This City,” brought a punk feel to the stage, with the crowd moshing along to their infectious rhythm.

Next, Lubbock’s Ghostlux took over White Oak Music Hall and commanded the crowd with their switch between metal and indie sounds. The trio brought an amazing performance, especially with their song “Savior Complex.” If you are someone who is a fan of riot grrrl music, this is the band for you.

Next, Midnight Beverage had an amazing show. Each time Midnight Beverage performs, it is clear that they put their all into it, and this show was no different. Throughout their set, the band constantly engaged the audience as they played each song passionately. Lead singer, Aiden, showcased his amazing vocals as he brought a new edge to the band’s songs. Afterwards Elevator Days performed a breathtaking performance. Ethan Elliot, the lead singer of the band, performed a soulful set, it brought a fun energy to the night. Specifically, the song “Call Me When You Get Home” got the crowd singing and dancing along to their fun indie energy. For the band, this was their second show with their new bass player, Evan Loftin of The Backroom Rumors, who played amazingly. Throughout the performance, Elevator Days brought chemistry and a playful vibe to the stage, check out their latest EP Growing Out.

Next, Orion 224 had a fun filled set as they packed White Oak Music Hall. Fans were excited for Houston’s indie rock darlings to perform a set to remember. Lead singer, Cris Peña, brought an exciting show as he advertised the band’s upcoming Life’s A Mess tour. Peña emphasized his love for Houston on stage so the bands Houston show will be free at Axelrad, RSVP here! The band brought an amazing energy to the stage and invited fans to come and meet them after their set.

Lastly, Slow Joy took the stage with a thrilling set to end the night. The lead singer, Esteban Flores, made sure the night would be one to remember. He started the set off with an energetic bang, as he jumped into the crowd. He sung passionately, and brought an exciting end to a great day.
