Live music capital of North Texas welcomes local bands to new music scene.
Stepping out of the small local scene, indie-rock trio Laredo Two make their debut to the live music capital of North Texas. Walking the streets of Deep Ellum, “Laredo Two opening up for Said The People” is displayed on every wooden post. As the band walks down the street and into establishments, people make small talk with the three and soon find out about Laredo Two. Without hesitation the strangers ask for a picture with the band realizing they are possibly in the presence of the next up and coming rock band.
The room grows louder as the three jump on stage and open with Chasm, a bouncy and powerful driven song with soulful verses. Laredo Two’s genre varies and changes from alternative-rock, indie-rock, some even say midwest-emo. Deeply inspired by My Chemical Romance and The Smashing Pumpkins, the three perfectly fit in the rock category with their heavy drums and intense guitar riffs. After the release of their hit single “Flush”, their fan base grew significantly. Lead singer and guitarist Tyler Ross makes a strong effort to make each show worth remembering and worth coming back.
Fan favorites such as “Mem’ry”, “Swim With The Sharks”, and “Poison” have new and old fans banging heads and dancing. The stage presence and chemistry between the three is beyond comparison. Newest member bassist Ryan Shukla recently joined and picked the band back up after a short hiatus. The way they compose and write their music is pure perfection described by many fans. After their set, fans rush to the merch table where the band meets fans and take pictures. Seeing unfamiliar faces felt relieving knowing they were doing something right musically. Making an effort to meet every fan, Tyler Ross, Ben Polanco, and Ryan Shukla are overjoyed to see their fanbase expanding.
I am a Dallas-based photographer. I am social media manager and photographer for indie-rock band Laredo Two as well as writer and photographer for Prosper's online newspaper, Eagle Nation Online. I have always had a passion for anything music from playing shows myself (I play bass and guitar) to music photography. When I am not taking pictures or at a concert, I run a small jewelry business and work at a local guitar shop!
