Off Record covered a multitude of shows and an even more diverse cast of bands on their second day of SXSW coverage – including Flood Fest Day 2 , Lost Weekend and other SXSW showcases.

Though the day started hazy and gray, no rain flooded the fest at Mohawk in the early round of artist performances that included Geese, KALI, Girlpool, and Priya Ragu. Everyone had amazing sets planned out, including Geese with a more laid back vibe and KALI with smooth vocals. Girlppol was also an amazing time, as they presented listeners withs songs off their future full-length album Forgiveness. The outdoor Mohawk area seemed to fill up in the transition towards the indoor stage where Priya Ragu made a final sound check. By far the funkiest of the performances, the set was loaded with transitions into multi-layered jams, a crowd dynamic that involved a sing along and the shredding of a guitar by member Ricky.

An overlapping event called Lost Weekend was occurring right next door at Cheer Up Charlie’s, an event hosted by Resound and Brooklyn Vegan. Throughout the day, acts such as Cassandra Jenkins, TEKE::TEKE and Surfbort took the stage with their eclectic performances.

Later that night, ORB attended the Doc Martens Showcase at the Container Bar, which had Faux Real, bbymutha, and MUNA on stage. Faux Real hit the crowd with charming choreography – as if the audience were snakes, and they themselves were the charmers. bbymutha came onto stage with huge bass, hard-hitting lyrics and a fun attitude despite the venue’s technical difficulties. The last performance of the day was by the emotionally charged girl trio MUNA, who the audience was truly the most excited for. Their lyrics were hitting hard and the emotions were flooding the venue, as they played a mixture of older songs and newer songs from their upcoming album.

To end the night, ORB attended two more showcases – one hosted by MINT Talent Group and the other by Don Giovanni. Bad Bad Hats was one of the main performers for Don Giovanni, which was exciting to see after they told ORB they would return to Texas as soon as possible. Another headlining act at the MINT Talent Group showcase was Vista Kicks, whom ORB covered last night at the Jam in a Van showcase.
