Tinashe Shows Chicago How to Match Her Freak

Evelyn Herrera·November 30, 2024

Tinashe brings all the vibes to Chicago’s Byline Aragon Ballroom on her fifth concert tour for her seventh album Quantum Baby with support from Raveena Aurora.

Outside the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom, fans waited through the chilling and raining weather before making their way in on Wednesday November 13th. As the doors opened fans made their way into one of the openers DJ Prosperity Room set who was the winner of Tinashe’s Soundcloud x Tinashe Match my Freak Contest for DJ’s with an account on Soundcloud near the city she would be performing for. He brought the greatest mixes for new listeners to support someone local in Chicago which was an amazing way to start off the show.

Raveena Aurora

After closing his set, Raveena Aurora was about to make her arrival on stage prior to the stage that was set up reflecting the energy in her music genre with a beautiful nature and ethereal-like stage design. Aurora opened up starting with “If Only”,”Pluto”, and “Mystery” from past music releases, which showed the growth from her older music to now of how she gracefully transcended into her newest album “Where the Butterflies Go in the Rain” that was released in June earlier this year starting with a popular favorite “Lose My Focus”.

Tinashe

The eye-catching visuals and movement she created during her performance was full of love, light and some amazing dancing from her culture as she did a cover of “Keshna Hi Kya” as well. Not too long after, she did a cover of “At Your Best (You Are Love)’’ which had everyone in awe of her vocals with those covers complimenting her voice and visual presence she brought to the scene. Aurora did finish off her set with a few songs from her newest album with “Smile For Me”, “Baby Mama” and “Rise”.

As fans waited further into the night, the stage was set up for Tinashe’s grand entrance. The stage contained wide-like screens covering the stage and security cameras left to right in the stage set, it raised excitement for fans to see how the performance will play out. Tinashe makes her way on stage starting off with “Getting No Sleep” from her latest album “Quantum Baby” that was released in August of this year.

As every song seamlessly transitioned to the next, she gave it all in every performance when it came to choreography, visuals and attitude! She continued with a few throwbacks from previous releases such as “Link Up”, “2 On” and a popular favorite collaboration “The Worst In Me (feat. Tinashe)” by KAYTRANADA. The performance of the show was almost like a trance that you couldn’t stop watching no matter what song it was, there was something to fall in love with throughout the show.

In between a few songs they had displayed mesmerizing visuals on the screens to view before going to the next song for some. The night did end with her single hit of “Nasty” and made the crowd go crazy to close off the night! The Match My Freak Tour was something fans or new listeners wouldn’t want to miss out on as she continues touring until next year.
