The early fall began in Houston, and the perfect concert was at the White Oak Music Hall.
Thee Sacred Souls are a California group known for their retro sound in RnB and soul. They broke into the scene with their hit “Can I Call You Rose?” where their unique harmonies and lyrics made them stand out from the rest. Now with their newest album Got a Story to Tell, they have been on a tour across the states.
The White Oak Music Lawn was packed from all directions where fans of all ages came together to enjoy the soulful live music of the Thee Sacred Souls. The live band first appeared on stage with the crowd’s warm reception. From amazing backup singers to a band that played in unison the show was truly something great to experience. The last person on stage was singer Josh Lane. He had a warm presence and a powerful voice that made the live versions of the songs sound so much better.
They started off the night with songs like “Lucid Girl,” “Will I See You Again?” and “Easier Said Than Done.” The Houston fans were not shy by singing lyrics back and dancing throughout the night. This was beautiful to see, humans enjoying the power of live music.
A highlight of the show was Josh Lane’s crowd interactions. He constantly went into the crowd and sang with his fans. This was very nice to see as fans were giving him space to perform yet you could see how happy they felt. As well as a speech of Lane’s in the middle of the set. He touched on political tops like Palestine, Congo and war crimes altogether. He was very passionate about treating each other with kindness and humanity.
To end the groovy night Thee Sacred Souls played songs like “My Heart is Drowning,” “Weak for Your Love” and global hit “Can I Call You Rose?”. The soulful band showed Houston why they are known for their live performances, it is truly something you don’t want to miss. For a night filled with great vocals and warm music make sure to check out a Thee Sacred Souls show.
I am from Houston, Texas and currently attending the University of Houston as a marketing major! From attending concerts, playing guitar, and collecting vinyl, I love anything that has to do with music. Some of my favorite artists include The Strokes, Omar Apollo, and boygenius. Besides that, I really like shopping, watching Pitch Perfect, and discovering new places in Houston!
