LA Indie-Rock Based, The Props are destined to become one of the next big indie rock bands. Most recently, they released their debut EP titled ARROW.
The legacy of the state of California is known as the home of the stars, sunny blue skies, and waves that crash along the shore. However, its notoriety is best held in the spectacle of their culture and long withstanding music scene that all influenced the widespread rise of rock and roll. Emerging from the west coast music scene there is one particular that immediately demands your attention at a perfect aim. With the instant connection of unlimited access at our fingertips, discovering new artists is more accessible for bands to reach an audience. Keeping this in mind, I came across a must known name that you need to know.
Here comes the Los Angeles indie-rock band, The Props formed in 2023 – composed of Nick Ruiz (vocals), Dawson Henry (guitar), Sam Edelman (drums), and Jersey Sullivan (bass). The four piece band delves into their sonic and hazardous garage rock tones. Recently signed by Blue Grape Music, the band already has a few songs up their sleeves that have gained momentum. With tracks such as “Echoes” and “Get Off” it’s clear to see their upstanding vision and musical range within their production and live performances.
The Props are inspired by many notable acts and poster child faces of alternative bands such as Fontaines D.C, The Killers, and Turnstile. Additionally, within their music there’s a reminiscence of the upheaval origin sounds of early rock and punk. A distinct nature of subtleties within their music aligns with foundational groups such as The Sonics and The Velvet Underground.

The band’s debut new EP, “Arrow” features a collection of 5 tracks set to be released on April 10th, 2026 and produced by Grammy Winner, Carlos de la Garza. It is taken by the gracious hands of the production veteran, De La Garza who has worked alongside bands such as Paramore and The Linda Linda’s, there’s no expectation as to the depths that The Props will automatically demand a room. The EP is set to include tracks, “Arrow“, “White Noise“, “Se Llama (Tell Me What You Want)“, “Camel Blues“, and “Hexes & Ghosts“. You can be able to presave it here.
Their new track, ‘Se Llama (Tell Me What You Want)’ is undeniably nostalgic and utterly dynamic that will not escape from your playlist rotation.
Within the first note of the song, it quickly picks up momentum with its high velocity and trajectory instrumentation. The delivery of the masterful and silky yet gritty vocals from Ruiz infiltrates and cuts through the barrier in a soulful manner. The track features loud buzzing reverbed guitar riffs from Henry that instantly hooks your ear. Alternatively, the driven upbeat bass handcrafted by Sullivan takes you on an endless journey. In addition, the drums powered by Edelman bolts into pure passion and intensity that strikes through your psyche.
Among their textured layered guitars and angsty yet pop infiltrated melodies, they intertwine together to create an infectious rhythm that sends sound waves into a whirlpool and swirling cascade.
With their storytelling lyrics, it’s imaginative and issues a mixture of longing and broken-hearted emotions. It is a track that is wrapped up into a picturesque scenario that’s meant to be showcased on film displayed on the big screen.
All to say, The Props are meant to be experienced in underground clubs beneath neon lights to a crowd of soul searching devoted fans. The four piece is destined to cultivate into a new face of the genre. With their driven life force and attitude that aims for a redirection of modern indie and alternative rock, The Props are hitting every mark. Their time is not coming to an end anytime soon despite the lyrics from “Se Llama (Tell Me What You Want)” thus making us fall in love with them even more.
ORB: What was the first moment that you wanted to become a musician and be part of a band? And how do those influences shape the sound of The Props?
Dawson: When I was about 13, a teacher asked if I had a band to play at the school, I lied and said we did. It went horribly as you could imagine, but I put something real together to make art that people could maybe enjoy. I started writing songs as I was learning to play. The Props are a mix between everything I’ve ever loved and all the new sounds and scenes I have always wanted to explore.
ORB: “Se Llama (Tell Me What You Want)” is such a vibrant indie pop/rock-infused song and insanely catchy. What was the backstory behind the making of this track?
Nick: It was one we’d tried a lot of different ways. We’d found our way of making songs, and with that came the right attitude for it. A lot of the lyrics I wrote when I was 13 years old; it’s probably our poppiest, but it has a soul.
ORB: Being an LA based band, music and culture is a vital part of the scene in California. What are some of your favorite local bands or record stores?
Jersey: I absolutely love attending local shows, I make an effort to see as many gigs as possible. Some of my favorite local bands from LA include Primitive Ring, Still Blank, and Tube Alloys. I also enjoy shopping for albums at Soundstations Records and Record Surplus!
ORB: Outside of the band and the shows you’ve played, what has been your favorite concert that you’ve ever attended?
Sam: The best live shows I’ve ever been to are Queens of the Stone Age at The Forum in 2023, or the Raconteurs at The Greek in 2019 when they brought Josh Homme and Money Mark onstage.
ORB: Who is your dream band or artist that you would love to collaborate with or tour in the future? Do you have any astonishing goals set for the band?
Jersey: If we could tour with Preoccupations, Elias Rønnenfelt, or Dinosaur Jr, it would be a dream come true for me. I would also love to collaborate with Jonathan Rado, who played in Foxygen and produces so many amazing records.
ORB: Lastly, you have a new EP, ‘Arrow’ that is set to be released on April 10th. What can fans expect to hear from your new music?
Nick: With our new EP, you can expect something different than anything we’ve released before. We found a sound that’s our own, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone soon.
