After 15 years since their last album, The Brobecks are coming back with a re-release of their iconic album, Happiest Nuclear Winter.

With The Brobecks being dormant for the last 15 years with no signs of return, a mysterious Instagram reel was posted from “None, You Jerk Records”, the record label owned by Dallon Weekes and his wife Breezy. The post tagged the couple, as well as founding Brobecks members Matt Glass and Michael Gross.

The Instagram reel featured a TV showing a person on a swing, then an explosion, which then turned the person on a swing into a skeleton, now showing the imagery for the band’s second album, Happiest Nuclear Winter, which was released in 2005. The post also included the date January 1st, 2025, and the caption, “Remain happy. Remain nuclear. Remain winter. PLEASE STANDBY.”

Fans were excited to just hear that The Brobecks were back, as well that it may be a re-release of the album. Happiest Nuclear Winter had some hiccups during its release time back in 2005, with it only ever being released on physical CDs and not streaming platforms due to issues with royalty payment distribution. The album itself is currently available to stream on YouTube and Bandcamp. Originally, the album had 12 tracks, plus some bonus tracks and b-sides.

Frontman Dallon Weekes has kept The Brobecks name alive since the band’s disbandment in 2009, including Weekes himself to be part of Panic. At The Disco from 2009 to 2017. This eventually launched his career further up in the scene. Weekes then started his side project titled I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME with now ex-drummer, Ryan Seaman, who was also a part of The Brobecks for a short amount of time in the past.

Dallon was able to grow The Brobecks fan base with this new side project by performing songs from their past albums live during IDKhow shows, and even went on to re-record some tracks like “Clusterhug” and “A LETTER” now featured on IDKhow albums, RAZZMATAZZ and GLOOM DIVISION. By doing this, Dallon now had the dream audience he had always wanted for The Brobecks that could scream these same songs back at him.

The date for the re-release of “Happiest Nuclear Winter” is the only news we have at the moment for The Brobecks, whether or not they have anything else planned afterward is in the air. Many fans hoping for a band reunion, new music release, or maybe more re-releases from older albums.
