The Band Camino Bring their ‘Taking Shape’ Tour to Austin’s Moody Theatre

There was so much unmatched energy in Austin’s Moody Theatre as The Band Camino’s performs classic hits and new hits from their latest album Taking Shape.

Touring with their most recent album, Taking Shape, the band rocked the house at Live at Moody Theatre in Austin, Texas. The album was released in May of 2024 and the band soon after hit the road starting the tour in July.

Lights dimmed in preparation for the opener as their song began to play. Fans sang along with Pop artist, Knox before he even took the stage. Knox Morris, also known as Knox, is a singer and songwriter from Dayton, Ohio. Back in 2021, Knox released his album How to Lose a Girl in Seven Songs including hits “Sneakers” and “NYC”. Since then the artist has released tons of new music for his fans, with 3 albums this year.

Knox engaged with the audience asking them if they had ever wanted to burn their ex’s stuff transitioning into his song “Dumpster Fire”. The front row went wild as he played “Treadmill” and “Change Your Mind”. A sea of flashlights surrounded the theatre as they sat on the edge of the stage during “NYC”. “All these songs I just write with my friends in my bedroom”, expressed Knox, grateful for the support of his fans that night. He finished with his hit “Not the 1975,” which he wrote after a girl told him he would never be Matt Healy.

Around 8:50, the lights went down once again as the Band Camino graced the stage. The band came out strong with their new hit “Nostalgia” as well as earlier songs “One Last Cigarette” and “Hush Hush”. The crowd jumped around as the set continued and smoke machines blasted around the band. Jeffery shared that the energy of the show was unmatched. In addition to the smoke, the stage set featured crates of apples with “TBC” spray painted on them, matching the split open apple on the cover of their album Bruises

After a few songs, Jeffery Jordan (lead singer and guitarist) and Spencer Stewart (vocals and guitarist) settled in for an acoustic session. They took requests from the audience playing songs from their first album My Thoughts on You, 2017 single “Berenstein”, and 2020 single “Crying Over You”. Some of the songs, Jeffery indicated they hadn’t played in 7 years.

Concertgoers offered cowboy hats for the band to wear – by the end of the concert Garrison Burgess (drummer), Spencer, and Jeffery all had cowboy hats on. Spencer rocked a pink cowboy hat with a sparkly boa. Jeffery wore a black cowboy hat with diamond tassels hanging down from the brim. They invited an audience member on stage to play the cowbell in “I Think I Like You”. Spencer and Jeffery swayed, arms around each other, in their cowboy hats as the song finished. The band closed their Austin show with “Daphne Blue,” leaving the crowd eager for more of The Band Camino.

I am a photographer from San Antonio. I found a love for photography when I was in High School and was able to take classes in college to further my skills. I love the outdoors, hiking, reading, and finding new music. Some of my favorite artists are The Band Camino, Coldplay, RHCP, and Phoebe Bridgers.
