Flo Milli rocked the house at Warehouse Live with special guest Maiya the Don.
It was a cool Saturday night in Houston’s East Downtown districts – a lot of people were walking around the area after the Houston Dynamo v. Real Salt Lake game, but Flo Milli fans were lined up and ready to go.
Flo Milli is a rapper from Alabama who became viral with her hit “Beef FloMix” on TikTok. After releasing multiple singles, she released her debut mixtape in 2020 titled Ho, why is You Here? followed by her debut album You Still Here, Ho?. Flo Milli rose to success in the rap community, and eventually released her debut album Fine Ho, Stay. She’s performed at multiple festivals such as Rolling Loud and South by Southwest, but now she went on her own headlining tour with the three stops being in Texas – Houston being the first stop.
Maiya the Don started off the night and walked on stage wearing a beautiful white fur coat, and performed for Houston. She stated it was her first time performing in Houston, and that she was more than ecstatic to be there. Maiya performed different tunes that fall in her self-coined genre known as “nipple-rubbing” music, and the crowd absolutely loved it. For her last song, she pointed out a fan in the crowd that was going off during her entire set – Maiya went to the barricade and gave fan Sarah a carrier bag after she stated that’s she traveled for the rapper.
The lights dimmed and Flo Milli rushed out to the stage and started with “Miss Carter Freestyle” and “Bedtime.” “Where my day one fans at?” Flo chanted to the crowd before performing hits like “Like that Bitch” and “Beef Flo Mix.” She then shifted to performing newer songs form her latest album like “Big Steppa” and “Fruit Loop,” where Flo threw a box of Fruit Loops in to the crowd. The show also didn’t fall short in terms of special guests, as she brought out Lah Phaat for the song “Rodeo” and Houston’s very own Monaleo for the song “We Not Humpin'” She continued to perform her next hit song “Conceited,” and ended her set with “In the Party” and “BGC.” Overall, the show was the definition of LIT: the energy was high and the performers were more than amusing. Fans sang every lyric back to her, and Flo Milli noted that. She transpired her southern charm to Texas, and Houston surely appreciated.
I'm a full-time music journalist/photographer from Houston, number one Paramore fan and Husky dog owner. I have a B.S in Radio-Television-Film from UT Austin and a M.A in Mass Communications from the University of Houston, which makes me smart! On top of being an avid concert-goer and movie fanatic, I love bonding with others over the power of local music and media.
