Nigerian singer and songwriter Tems blessed 713 Music Hall with a night full of powerful vocals and harmonies.
Originally from Lagos, Nigeria, Tems rose to fame with her feature on Wizkids’ single “Essence.” This collaboration was one of many great songs that catapulted the world of Afrobeat into the mainstream. Tems released her newest album Born in the Wild, in early June, and is now touring with supporting acts Naomi Sharon and Lekan.
Tems stage was set with warm lights, green shrubs, backup singers and a live band. This created a warm and dreamy feel at the sold-out night at the 713 Music Hall. She stepped on stage with a shiny gold one-piece body suit with tassels that moved with her as she danced across the stage.
The night started with songs from her newest album Born In The Wild like “Gangsta,” “Wickedest” and “Turn Me Up.” The crowd smiled from ear to ear as they heard Tems sing beautifully. Her warm yet powerful voice shined with a band and backup singers.
A highlight of the concert was when she got off the stage and went into the crowd. She picked two fans who she had been watching all night and she freestyle a song with their name. This was so fun to watch from the crowd as she took the time to show true appreciation for her dedicated fans. Tems wrapped up the night with her biggest hits like “Love Me JeJe,” “Higher” and “Essence.” This was a great show full of great live vocals, fan interactions, and great music. Tems is continuing her world tour across the states and then the world.
