Teddy Swims blends genres seamlessly, translating moments of heartbreak, acceptance, and vulnerability into an amazing performance.
On Sunday, August 24, 2025, Teddy Swims rolled into Oklahoma City’s Zoo Amphitheatre for a night that matched the emotional weather shift outside, with equal parts thunderous energy and tender moments. Supporting the complete edition of his newest album I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (released previously in two parts), Swims delivered a set that was as emotional as it was electrifying.
Irish singer-songwriter Cian Ducrot began the evening with several songs from his latest album, Little Dreaming. His songs spin heartbreak into confident, witty expressions that remain honest and profound.
Born Jaten Dimsdale, Swims’ musical sound is a testament to his upbringing in the melting pot of Atlanta, Georgia, where he dabbled in countless genres from country to heavy metal. His breakthrough came about nearly overnight from posting videos on Youtube, accumulating millions of views on his cover songs under the “Swims” name. As a tribute to his humble beginnings, Swims dedicates a song in his setlist to a randomly chosen cover decided by ping pong balls picked from a fishbowl. During his performance in Oklahoma City, Swims delivered a wonderful rendition of “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye that perfectly captured the soulful crooning of the original.
Performing with his band Freak Freely, Swim’s presence as a vocal powerhouse was undeniable throughout the set. Complemented by soulful backup singers and electrifying guitar riffs, Swim’s songs delivered a nearly palpable energy that seeped into the crowd.
Between tracks, Swims shared anecdotes about his journey – both as a father and artist – revealing the humility that keeps him rooted beyond his headlining tour. Tender, slow moments during renditions of songs such as “Small Hands” and “All That Really Matters” are reminders of the universality of emotion, and the ampitheatre swelled with appreciation for Swim’s testimony.
Unsurprisingly, a standout moment from the show was Swim’s performance of his breakout hit “Lose Control.” His vocal crescendoes and deep lyrics are truly magnetizing to hear live.
At the end of the night the crowd had become a part of something bigger than a show: it was a catharsis and soul.
