Sunflower Bean (New York NY)

This Brooklyn, NY rock trio is sure to take you on an eclectic ride at this year’s SXSW. Sunflower Bean’s music is characterized by infectious melodies, lush harmonies, and a balance of shimmering nostalgia and modern edge. With albums like Human Ceremony, Twentytwo in Blue, and SHAKE EP, Sunflower Bean has earned critical acclaim for their lyrical depth and genre-defying approach. As well-known SXSW alumni, the trio always throws a perfectly curated NYC rock / punk showcase in Austin, which features different NYC / East Coast bands. Their energetic live performances always serve to captivate audiences worldwide, further solidifying their place in the indie-rock scene.

Paula Cendejas is a rising star born in Madrid, known for modern blends of R&B, reggaeton, and Spanish pop. Her soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics bleeds through her works, as heard in songs like “Amor y Maldad” and “TSUNAMI.” She has also collaborated with artists like Becky G, FEID, and Girl Ultra, which shows that she is quickly making a name for herself in the spanish music scene. SXSW seems to be bringing more Spanish pop artists to the fest. and La Cendejas makes the perfect addition. This would be a great opportunity for the Spanish singer to showcase her genre-defying artistry and raw emotional energy on stage.

Jack’s Mannequin (Orange County CA)

This was a really great surprise – Andrew McMahon is no stranger to the Austin scene. Jack’s Mannequin is the alt-rock project led by Andrew McMahon, known for iconic tracks like “Dark Blue” and “The Mixed Tape”. McMahon’s other well-known project called Something Corporate made their appearance at Austin City Limits 2024, and it’s exciting to see that Austin would get a taste of JM. Their live performances are a perfect mix of nostalgia and raw emotion, all tied together with heart and high-energy. As they are set to perform at SXSW, this is the best opportunity to catch the recently reunited band and to catch the Everything in Transit anthems.

Urban Heat is redefining post-punk with their blend of synth-driven beats and haunting lyrics. They’ve performed with well-known post-punk acts like Twin Tribes, Rare DM and Gvllows, and are also known for standout tracks like ‘Have You Ever?” and “Sanitizer.” Most recently, they released their latest album called The Tower, which showcases a perfect balance of dark introspection and infectious grooves. Urban Heat’s live performances are always immersive and captivating, and are key icons in redefining the post-punk genre.
