Soccer Mommy Blossoms at Houston’s White Oak Music Hall

Soccer Mommy brought the “Evergreen” tour to Houston’s White Oak Music Hall and was joined by special guest Hana Vu.

Indie rock band Soccer Mommy, better known as the stage name of singer/songwriter Sophie Allison, took over the downstairs stage at White Oak Music Hall in Houston. The tour is in support of their “Evergreen” North American tour featuring support from Hana Vu on select dates.

The first leg of the “Evergreen” tour contained supporting acts L’Rain and Tomberlin. Soccer Mommy has included other Texas cities as part of their North American tour with dates, such as Dallas and Austin on February 22nd at Radio/East.

Fans lined up outside the entrance of the White Oak Music Hall waiting for doors to open at 7pm. Everyone was bundled up, waiting impatiently as the cold breeze blew against them in the 50 degree weather. Excitement buzzed in the air as doors opened.

The venue slowly started to fill up with fans who were all mingling and talking with each other, excitedly chattering before the show. There was a long line of people waiting in line for merch whilst others were hanging out with their friends, searching for the best spot to view the show.

As the night progressed, the anticipation was quickly building up as it was time for the opening act, Hana Vu. The reception of the crowd was enlightening to witness and feel. After each song, the crowd went wild and applauded, enjoying the moment of live music and the energy from Vu.

The stage production set up for Soccer Mommy’s set was hypnotizing to watch and experience. Off the bat, the visuals seemed inspired by the art direction and aesthetics from their newest record release, Evergreen. There was a spherical projection screen on stage that featured different moving graphics such as a flower garden, hypnotic swirls, and landscape scenery that captivates the audience.

Soccer Mommy made their arrival on stage around 9:15pm, earning a massive roar from the crowd. The band played some of their most popular tracks such as “Circle The Drain”, “Your Dog”, and “Cool”. They also played with newer songs from their recent release such as “Abigail”, “Driver”, and “Some Sunny Day”. In the middle of the show, Allison took the time to introduce each member of the band, earning applause and ovation from the fans.

One of the most special moments of the night occurred when the crowd asked Soccer Mommy for an encore. Allison was shocked and surprised that the fans were still hanging around and wanting more songs. The pure joy and happiness on her face from seeing the audience scream and cheer was indescribable.

It is always an absolute honor and joy to experience a Soccer Mommy show and rocking out to their music. It was unlike any other show that the band has performed. The addition of projected visuals and greenery props added to the ambiance and feel that brought the Evergreen album to life. It was a night filled with passion for music, electric energy, and a deep connection between the band and their fans.
