Singer Catie Turner Brings the Energy to Los Angeles

Catie Turner brings the house down at the Troubadour in LA with guests Sophie Holohan and Baby Fisher.

Catie Turner puts on an unforgettable show at the Troubadour during her Comedy and Tragedy: the Tour in Los Angeles with hit performances from both her and her opening acts. Starting off the show was teen up and coming indie artist, Baby Fisher. After finding popularity on Tiktok, Baby Fisher finally released original music at the end of last year. Having written music since he was 14, Baby Fisher’s musical chops shined through his vocals and intimate performances, with his set mainly consisting of just him and his guitar. Between performing his set, Baby Fisher took some time to speak with the audience about his life and journey as a musician, as well as the meaning and inspiration behind his music. In the middle of his set, Catie Turner and fellow opening act, Sophie Holohan came out from backstage to congratulate Baby Fisher on graduating from the Comedy and Tragedy tour, and gifted him with an “official” certificate and a large graduation cap. Near the end of his set he performed a cover, paying homage to his background in blues music and the time he spent gigging at blues bars.

Next up was the second opening act of the night, Sophie Holohan. Sophie’s vocals stunned the audience as she performed her set. Her music incorporates multiple genres and shows heavy folk and indie pop influence. Her songs had beautiful lyrics that reflected and explored significant moments from Sophie’s life as well as different topics such as love, longing, and forgiveness. Alongside her original music she performed a cover of Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever,” which fit perfectly with her powerhouse vocals and alongside her set. Many wholesome moments occurred throughout her performance as she expressed her gratitude for being on tour and being able to perform alongside Catie, who happens to be her roommate. During her performance she performed some of her most popular singles including singles from her debut EP, “The Space Between” which was released back in October. She ended her set with a performance of her most popular single, which holds over 8 million streams on Spotify, “Cognitive Dissonance.”

Finally the main act of the night made her way to the stage. Comedy and Tragedy: the Tour followed the release of Catie Turner’s newest EP of the same name. She performed hits from the new album including “Hyperfixations,” “God Must Hate Me,” and title track, “Comedy and Tragedy,” which is a beautiful yet heartbreaking song dedicated to her late father. Catie’s quirky personality charmed the audience as she spoke about her musical journey and the different experiences and personal moments in her life that inspired her music. Her music touches on topics such as struggling with self-love and heartbreak amongst multiple other themes. Throughout her set were many fun moments including Catie making members of the band demonstrate random non-music related hidden talents they have as well as a surprise duet performance of “Breaking Free” from High School Musical with her opener, Sophie Holohan. With so many hits in her discography, it must have been difficult to narrow down which songs to perform for her tour. Thankfully during the show, Catie pulled out a spinning wheel of her singles and had an audience member do the honors of helping it land on a song for her to perform. Catie’s performance was nothing short of unforgettable as she provided her audience with an array of great songs with a variety of styles and influences. Along with her amazing openers, Catie Turner made for a great show as she neared the end of her nationwide tour.
