Silversun Pickups Rock Out at the House of Blues Dallas

Opener Hello Mary and headliner Silversun Pickups bring their summer tour to the House of Blues in Dallas, Texas.

On June 10, alternative band Silversun Pickups continued their summer tour at the House of Blues in Dallas, Texas. On this tour, they were accompanied by rock band Hello Mary. Inside of the iconic venue, hundreds of fans of all ages congregated in the pit and balcony. 

The first act of the night was Hello Mary, a three piece band from New York. They have almost 25 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, and their track “Ginger” has accumulated more than a million streams. This year, the band released their single titled “0%.” Hello Mary’s band consisted of guitarist Helena Straight, drummer Stella Wave, and bassist Mikaela Oppenheimer. All of the members wore coordinating black outfits, and the stage lighting was bright and colorful. The band’s setlist incorporated both old and new releases, including their tracks “Sink In” and “Looking Right into the Sun.” Despite some technical difficulties, Hello Mary’s performance was very dynamic and engaging. 

The last act of the night was Silversun Pickups, a rock band from California. They have a million monthly listeners on Spotify, and their song “Lazy Eye” has garnered more than 150 million streams. In 2022, they released their sixth album Physical Thrills. Silversun Pickup’s stage design was intricate, with several color changing light bulbs hanging from the ceiling. The band comprised of their lead singer/guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, and drummer. They opened with their track “Growing Old Is Getting Old,” which was followed by “Sticks and Stones.” The rest of the setlist included multiple fan favorite songs, including “Panic Switch” and “Circadian Rhythm (Last Dance).” Overall, both Hello Mary and Silversun Pickups delivered entertaining performances to the venue full of excited fans.
